Was the above car a stick or auto? I'm thinkin it's a stick. Atwell did/does have 2 LO cars. The stick car has some very large tires in the back, so I'm thinkin it is at least mini tubbed. I have pix of this car, I'll dig out & post. Point of interest on that car. It has 1968 Car Craft Race Team of the Year decals on the windows . Same ones & same location the Landy stick car had them. I tried buying the glass/ trading them to install back on the Landy stick car when I owned it, but he didn't want to part with them. Can't really blame him, if they're the real deal. When I sold the Landy car, I wanted to keep a couple momentos from that car, because I knew I'd never own it again, so with permission of the next owner, I kept the woodgrain steering wheel tthat Dick used to hang onto, & the door panels. All are on my current car. Kinda cool when I jump into it, & grab hold of that steering wheel. Quess it's a gotta be there scenario. liteweight |

Hemi Moose. The silver & red cuda from Norway was John Macy's last car that I know of.It was built from a yellow 6cyl car in the back of the transmission shop John worked at.Conn Auto Transmission owned by Jim & Leon Browning. It was sold by Drake Viscome to Odd-Roar. John built the phony 66 hemi wagon in the rear of Fairbanks Transmissions in Stamford,Conn if memory serves me correct.

All I can say on the Canadian Barracuda's is they're alive & well up here in the north country. A good friend of mine owns one. Sorry, sworn to secretcy as per owners request. liteweight |

1968 Photo
This photo does answer an asked question. In 1968, what class did the 1965 Race Hemi Dodge and Plymouth cars run in,,,, SS/B or SS/BA with the 1968 Hemi Darts and Barracuda's, albeit,,,,,about 400 lbs. heavier. Bill Stiles SS/BA versus Tritak & Morgan SS/EA http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/a...6&d=1264971277 |

Re: Original hemi dart information
Daryl/Paul,
You know I was looking at the pictures that I have of the Manhatten Speed Shop Dart and I noticed something. I always assumed that the car was in primer because the pics are B&W but the car is painted - as delivered the hood and fenders were black & blue gelcoat - the fenders are painted. Many of the early cars Shirley Shahan, Bill Tanner and others were originally shipped without hoods - you will see some pictures where the hoods look black. The hoods were shpped whenthey were available. Note that the Manhatten Dart has a black hood. Possibly an early car?? Daryl are you smiling yet? . I know that someone said that the car was a SS/B but I have seen nowhere where the car actually had a class designation on it. I think that this is a car that bears further investigation. Mark J |
