Oh good grief... how many times do they have to have that car apart? I think Fisher told me that a few years ago, he had gotten torn down three races in a row. Congrats on your class win, though, Johnny!

We were going to have a picture of Beaudrou and Jimmy Defrank in staging before B/SA semi-finals, but Jimmy declined to have his picture made for reasons unknown. But it was really "COOL" to see Darrel Wikle and another crewmember with gloves on to remove the dry ice from the intake manifold and to carefully place the carb base plate (which appeared to be non-stock) that had been frozen in dry ice in the trunk. Evidently the "left coast rulebook" is different from the "right coast rulebook".

And on the winning hand (Jim Beaudro) used 10 # of ice in zip lock bags to cool the engine and cool water running thru the radiator. The good old fashioned way (and legal).

Congratulations Jim Beaudro for your class win and maybe tomorrow Jimmy will take time to read the "East of the Mississippi rulebook", which is the one everyone gets in the mail.

Larry

p.s. I know what I saw.

Michael,

Fisher's win in class was impressive to say the least. He took out some really good cars in K!

A few observations;

Emmons wheelstand was awesome but very scary. The car just kept going up and we all know the real story thanks to Larry.

Boudreau's class win in B automatic over DeFrank was a great race. The orange Camaro certainly makes some good power.

The final in A/SA was an all Mustang affair and was no surprise. These cars are certainly not showing their hand and the new Dodge drag paks will be the car which will finally push them to show their full potential. Having said that Barton's performance with the Carp machine was impressive!

Fletch made his appearance today and showed everyone he certainly has the "game" figured out! The race with Garlits was icing on the cake and his single run in Comp in the second session proved that.

A ton of cars were running some impressive ETs in the worst air of the weekend but runs to the 1,000 ft. mark were a common theme.

Looking forward to the Hemi Challenge and Super Stock class eliminations in the morning.

Mike

Since you took the time to post about all the infractions on Jimmy DeFranks car, I assume you also took the time to point this out to an NHRA official as it was going on?

And for the second time... Jim's last name is Boudreau

It's no accident Garlits is called "BIG DADDY!!!

Wish I could cut one like that when I'm 65. Which will be like right now.

Looks like Hawk had a heck of a landing. Richie Pauley did that at Mission a couple years ago, landing on the oil pump busted the block. Maybe a more collapsible stock aluminum pump is the answer?

Sure are lots of guys that look close to Garlits age in these pictures !

Larry I think you meant the air cleaner base not the carb base plate.

Just what rule do you think they broke?
