Re: Ray Allen versus Jack Werst '1970 SS/EA Showdown'
Hey, HemiMoose, I wrote that General Kinetics ad when I was the Marketing Manager and phone tech guy back then, I, also, wrote and edited their first real catalog. Still have a copy.

Yes Big Willie & Tomico 69 Hemi Daytonas, but weren't they just street racers that did some match races across the country promoting the brotherhood.

A new entry into SS/EA,

Another SS/EA entry, and new '1973 Record Holder' at 11.09 @ 125.17
Terry Earwood driving the 'Steve Bagwell' 71' Hemi Cuda (convertible). http://blog.hemmings.com/wp-content/...da_03_1000.jpg |
Re: Ray Allen versus Jack Werst '1970 SS/EA Showdown'
Ron,
On the 1970 426 Hemi Superbird,,,,, In 1975, the car held the B/SA,,, NHRA National Record, 11.76 @ 117.64 |
Re: Ray Allen versus Jack Werst '1970 SS/EA Showdown'
Just for comparison.....the 11.09 125.17 SS/EA record posted above on asphalt with 10 to12 inch tires
A 125mph run with todays 9" tires/ concrete starting lines and engines/drivelines would usually be in the mid 10 second zone......A half second faster ET with similar MPH..... If you look at old pictures there is almost always some smoke off the tires on the launch.....mostly with Stickshift Stockers on 7" tires... SS'ers and automatics were hooked a lot better..... |
