I have to admit, I check this and the "poking the bear" thread, several times a day for updates. Its better than a TV show.

Re: “Live from” the NHRA D2 Nat open series at Piedmont
Exactly. I was asked to try to help get some exposure for this new series, because like IHRA with no exposure and no support it will go away. I feel bad for the ihra guys who did support that organization for along time and then got crapped on by the new powers to be. The sad truth about ihra atleast in my eyes is that when bill bader stepped down it died. Since then the writing was on the wall. Fields got smaller mainly because of scooter peaco and his attitude. They no longer cared about what bader had done to help bring sportsmen back in drag racing and when they did away with mountain motor pro stock and pro mod that was the final nail in the coffin. I was lucky with my father and his brother in law bill hawk I was way ahead of the curve in getting my stuff to run. Then all the years helping Jim Morgan with the top stock stuff I was able to further my program. Anyway I probably was the one of the few who could basically change the letters on the windows over to NHRA and run under the index. Did it ten years ago so nothing changed. Unfortunately there are some who can not accept the fact that NHRA is not ihra and the class they ran is now gone. So if they truely love class racing and everything it represents then they will update there car or buy one that’s ready to go. Cooter thanks for posting the sheets I texted you and I’m sorry for the people who attacked you for your choice to run NHRA. Hell if I would have known super stock was this much fun then I would have switched it over a long time ago and wouldn’t have had to worry about a place to race. NHRA is the major league and ihra was the minors. Guess I finally just got called up.

Re: “Live from” the NHRA D2 Nat open series at Piedmont
My take on all this. I raced ihra ss production with my Camaro. I ran with them due to the fact that was what's in the area and easy for me to run. I had no idea they were on life support or I would have went with a different engine/trans combo but that's no body's fault but my own. I could change to two carbs and run NHRA modified but would be a sitting duck with this old of a car in a heads up run. I was outside looking in and then NHRA div 2 started this open and now I have a place to class race again. Many thanks to them. I never asked anyone to change rules or what they were doing it was up to me to change the car. I planning on running all the open races to support this Lord willing. And to others that could run these open race's NHRA tech is stricter than ihra ever was but that's for our safety. They have at treated me very well very fair and are truly a racer's friend.

The NMCA still allows Pure Stockers to race

AHRA is looking at the IHRA classes too ! Owners and associations contact me asking technical questions and what classes a car will fall in! There is a good bit of support keeping Pure Stock. Planning to show up to a few races this year. Going to leave the 95SS Pure Stock. Will finish the 69 Impala for Stock. It has all the chassis reinforcement done. D |
