Re: The Factory Experimental Cars
Nobody is wrong here about the Richard Duecker car but history has a way of creating confusion.
A. The car was built by Dave Koffel using leftover parts from Chryslers A/FX program. B. The chassis platform came from a wrecked A-990 from Owensboro Ky.That was wrecked in a towbar towing accident. It was monikered"Outlaw".It was a sedan and converted to a hardtop. C.Koffel sold the car running to two guys from Cleveland Oh.,Ron Latine and Tom Haner. After unsuccessfully trying to race the car it was sold to Duecker from Chippawa Ohio. The car was in pieces. D.Duecker had a few mishaps with the car and did a lot of work on it.He purchased some parts from me at the time. E. I recall the long ago conversation with him and Steve Reasbeck at Keystone about the car and clearly understand Steve recolections. F.I lost track of any further history of the car.Neither Dave or I recall the last wreck. G.This information is as good as we can garner and comes from past recollections of some old feeble minds as mine,Steve, and Dave Koffel.Richard Duecker is still alive and Dave and myself have run into him in past years. He ran at Dragway 42 near his home. H.Jim Kramer is reportedly to have told Dave Koffel that he aquired the T-Bars and K-Member years ago. Enjoy the time travel of younger days and old minds and hope we helped give some worthwhile information.Based on our memories or lack of. Respectfully, Bob |

If this picture goes away, click the link and it "should" take you to a picture of what may be the "Outlaw" mentioned above as a sedan.

Re: The Factory Experimental Cars
Ok clarity time.I bought the Paper Tiger II from a Chry engr mechanic. He bought it from a Chry engr who built it for a project for his son. I believe they bought from the guy that Buckeye sold it to.(He painted it pearl white) May have been one other owner before it came to Michigan. They raced the car as the Alien and then sold it to the Chry mech.I sold it to the late Rick Samul.Rick sold it to Kris and he sold it to Mike. The alley story is funny. Car was in Detroit (new center area) in a garage that only opened to an alley. It was not in the alley.Ever!
Now the Firebrewed car ,I found in a junk yard in Inkster Mi.I was out looking for a dana rear for the Plymouth. When I realized what the rear end was connected to I bought it on the spot. I recognized the car in the junk yard as Dick's.I thought at the time it was the car that Dick had crashed and was badly injured in.It was not, that was the 67 GT Dart.I found Dick about three years ago and got he and Rick together. I had worked on Dick's 68 Hemi Dart once and knew him slightly. (btw he was still alive as of Rick's passing a couple years back.) I sold that car wo/dana to Rick with the Paper Tiger II.His widow still has the car and is selling it thru some flipper .Car looks exactly like the pics posted with Rick at the Cema car show at the Chry Museum. Now you know the real story. BTW I love the b&w pic of the two cars racing each other at Indy.Don't love the pic of Tig (UFO) laying it on the Paper Tiger II. Hey he's a pal....lol |

Cool to see an afx clone of Butch Leal's 65 California Flash AFX make a cameo (along with Billy Gibbon's wife) during the movie The Snake and the Mongoose. Was that Greg Mosely's car?
