Well round 1 is over and we are done for the year! We had already decided that we were heading back home after this weekend. Maybe Pomona another year. We are ready to get home to our family, friends and dogs and cats!

Here's hoping you change your mind Larry, if snow is on the San Gabriel mountains it is really pretty and the history at Pomona is second only to Indy. I spectated there one year in conjunction with a business trip and have always wished that racing could get me back again. I'm guessing Chris has it all under control.

Well we have now officially withdrawn from Pomona. I would say a spot is now available but it is still over limit. So unless you are a former world champion I don't guess anymore can get in.

You are welcome to all of those who said "thanks". We have really enjoyed sharing our adventures with you!

We left this morning about 6 heading back the 1800 miles east. We will probably be home by Tues. night. We usually go 500-60d0 miles a day depending on where we are able to pull over for the night. Bobby, we won't be back down your way coming home. We are running I-40 all the way to Memphis, then north from there.

Chris, where did you get the pictures of me in the stands writing down times?? Oh and thanks to you and Keisha for taking care of the business at home (and the cats and dogs and everything else).

We will be posting a little more along the way.

Thank you taking your time and efforts to show us the beautiful USA as you traveled to the races. I look forward to your travels next year and your live reports. Hopefully I see you in Charlotte and maybe Gainesville if I get there.

Here are a few pictures from our travels back toward Kentucky. We left on Sunday morning and drove about 570 miles to just outside Albuqueque, NM last night. We stayed at the Route 66 Casino. For those of you heading back after Pomona, they have lots of parking and easy in and out. There is also a truck stop there with diesel as cheap as we have seen anywhere.

We have stopped for the night at a Walmart in Weatherford, OK. We have dropped in elevation 4000' since we left this morning! The weather has been great so far. They were calling for snow in parts of New Mexico tomorrow, so I am glad we missed it. It looks like we might run into some rain tomorrow in OK and ARK.

We stopped today for lunch at a rest area in Van Buren, Arkansas. Larry then remembered that is where Mopar guy Mr. Jim Hale lives. So he called him up and Jim invited us over to his place where we spent a couple of hours with him and Mrs. Mary. Really great people! Here are some pictures of Mrs. Mary's cabin that they built out of logs on their property. It is really cool and decorated with loads of antiques!

Larry, I love the 64 Sports Fury convert. In 1969 George Peterson owned a red one and I owned a blue one. Still today we both love those cars. Count yourself lucky to have such a nice example of one today!

4600+ miles the last three races, but man was it fun! Seen a few cars with aluminum radiators but all that was west of the Pecos. Our first race we loaded up in the rain and the snow, tonight we unloaded in a cold rain.

We hope to see everybody next year.

If my calculations are correct I will be old enough to win the Class Nationals in May of 2014.
