Re: Dumbo The Flying Elephant
Packing up to go to the dyno is a lot of work.

Re: Dumbo The Flying Elephant
We are learning what works and what does not. I got to see the new aluminum block for us and all I have to do now is Save Up!

Re: Dumbo The Flying Elephant
The dyno was a success, I lost ten + pounds. We tested so much my race engine thought it was a dyno mule. We tested plugs, timing, coil packs, valve adjustments (thanks George), fuel map, rolled the cam around (thanks Charlie for a great product), worked on air fuel ratio, intake manifolds, and headers.
It was great to here it sing it’s song over and over again! Many thanks to Jeff Taylor Performance for their help, professionalism, and guidance to help me make my time at the dyno productive. Now we need to apply it to the track. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun. |
Re: Dumbo The Flying Elephant
Before we ever put the engine on the dyno we had a quick meeting on what we wanted to accomplish, items to be evaluated, and in what order. My test plugs were all gaped and antiseezed, brought my degree wheel, steel plate, dial indicator, extra gaskets that were not used, and the little special tools that work in tight places. The meter is running how much is done in a day is up to me. If I needed help all I had to do was ask.
After it was over we went over the sheets and decided what if any changes need to be made to the car to take advantage of what we found. I did order a few parts. The rest of the time will be spent cleaning and trying to improve the car to be more user friendly. Plus it is tournament time for basketball both High School and college. Reporting will be a little slower the big things will be wiring the O2’s in and a few other things. |

Re: Dumbo The Flying Elephant
How old is Dumbo? Seems like a lot of new parts and hard work. I finished my car and whatever I can tune it to is where it will stay for a long time. I would like to try out a dyno and see if my tune up is accurate, but I may have to wait until my other options are exhausted. My next upgrade is radial tires, but I only have 12 passes on the current tires and my wife says, "what's wrong with them" LOL
