I don't know the Sorenons other than from Bobbys video. Seem like good people that enjoy Class racing!

I don't know all the intrecities of running Stock, so don't kill me but I think congrats is in order IMO.

Joe clinched the championship when Jimmy Hidalgo lost in the semi-finals. He won by 1 point! Congratulation to Joe and Hal. And congrats as well to Jimmy Hidalgo who drove the wheels off his GTO.

In the picture from the left is Hal, Joe, and NHRA's Mike Rice.

Was hoping the battle would be settled in Pomona.

Hey Fred, I can think of 6-7 electrical reasons, and I can think of at least 4 strategic and fully legal reasons those headlights went on-off-on on the pass you witnessed on NHRA TV. (And right now I wish that I had used it first round Saturday myself instead of my foot/tach).

Not saying Joe used that switch at all (personally I would not be afraid to ask, though I would not expect and answer or have my feelings hurt if he just changed the subject or wallked away).

I used a different tact to attempt to trim just 2 thou of R.T. at the tree this weekend, got caught with my pants down. But, here goes...a fully charged battery and while the alternator is spinning it is with a fully operable and correct charging system pretty much disengaged and freewheeling-as it is not electrically activated since the regulator has recognized the full charge status of the battery, turn on the headlights though and the instant voltage reduction or drawdown is enough to turn that alternator field on and will trim a -.002 light into a quite stellar .00x green, turn those lights back off and the alt is again freewheeling the balance of the pass.

And every bit of the actions taken are fully legal within our ruleset. And smart as hell w/ a World Championship on the line where 1 point or 1 red-light by a few to a couple of thousandths could be completely devastating to your life.

Like I just said, no idea if that was why, but I just wish I had tested out that theory...and you bet I will soon enough. Bank on it.

A much simpler action than the one I recently failed at badly to do the same exact thing. His attempts seem to be working out quite nicely if (big IF), that was a purposely done act, and will be rewarded handsomely. Well done Joe no matter how it was accomplished. Screw the haters and sceptics. Keep em all wondering, guessing and curious...including me.

That was a season long lifetime goal accomplished. Kudos and congrats to Joe & the men on his crew who pulled it all off and to Hidalgo and others who finished the season right behind him in the points chase.

But I did like the "look over here at the shiny thing, not all the other more important stuff" theory posting. Lmao.

The headlamp thing.
Being originally from Connecticut Modified roundy round racing is huge. Their was a legendary racer at the Danbury Racearena named Don Lajoie father of Randy and grandfather of Corey, He was a great driver with the best equipment but one season they messed with everyone's heads by having a schrader valve on the right front frame rail they checked and "inflated" before every track session. It was nothing more than a prop but it got into the heads of the other race teams in the pits.
Just food for thought.
