Re: 1962 Mopar 383/343 HP 'Stocker'
Here's another '62 Dodge Polara convertible...I guess it would make a nice cruiser.

Well, I see fenderwell headers and a D & J marking on the side panel glass, and Cragars. And 'Shaker II' ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, maybe Darrel Davis out of 'Division 2' |
Re: 1962 Mopar 383/343 HP 'Stocker'
Great thread. Always loved the Behemoth. Saw a wagon at Auburn several years ago for sale. I didn't know enough to evaluate it. Price was Cheap for what it appeared to be with the 2 x 4s.

Re: 1962 Mopar 383/343 HP 'Stocker'
On a related note has anyone seen any actual cars[Dodge] with the 413-385hp or 413-394hp motors? I suspect they were a "paper only" combo that was never competitive with the Max Wedge. It will be interesting to see some details on the upcoming Mecum auction on the Polara convert pictured in a previous thread.

here is the last e mail conversation i had with bob burkitt "James - Good to hear from you again, I thought you might have lost interest in the car. Good to know that you still have it. Mike is correct, the car originally was called "Shaker II" after our first race car which was a Plymouth called "Shaker". The lettering in the picture is hand-cut vinyl traced from the original artwork on the Plymouth. We started racing the Dodge in stock paint and color for half a season then over the winter we took it apart and brought it up to snuff with some minor bodywork and stripped it for painting. You might recall that it was pearl with a blue top when we sold it to the Moreheads. When we had it it was a 383 inch engine of 343 hp with dual four barrel carburetors. I'm not sure what it has now or if it even has an engine, perhaps you can update me with regard to the driveline. What are your plans for the car? Any pictures of it as it sits today? Bob" |
