Re: 64 No More..
So did this car start life as a 426 Max-Wedge...when did a 426 Hemi get transplanted into it.

hi moose yes it is the same car, wen my dad and uncle got the car(1967) it had a 440 police car engine in it with max heads and cross ram, but it had a hemi k member rear mount battery, hemi shock tower, the guy they bought it from who was the original owner told my dad that it was a "single 4 bbl hemi" at the time they thought he was nuts. the car is a feb built car the tag dictates a 426 high performance original black paint car with blue interior. some time in 1968ish the car got crashed on the frontpass side . my dad took the car off the road and put an i beam front end with a max wedge and ran c/gas i still have the replacement steel nose stored at the shop, he got bored witht that and repaired the frame rails and inner fender, put stock front suspension in it t run c/sa with a maxwedge. by the mid 70s it was a ss/ga car and in the early 80s it got the aluminum nose and hemi for ss/ba. a couple of things they bought it with a steel nose and aluminum max wedge scoop ( i stll have the scoop), after it got crashed the entire nose was replaced with parts fromchrysler which i still have and those steel fenders are thin like 65 a990 fenders, the replacement steel hood even has the p# in white on the bottom of the hood and a perfect "426"emblem, when the car got crashed in 1998 we took the hemi k member out of it and put a "light" k member in it which has since dissapeared. i still have the car i recently put the cal tracs and leaf back in original location i am just waiting to find a real nice set of factory rear wheel whells for it, incase you know of any? hint hint!!!! this car fortunatly did not suffer the usual s/s fate and retains the original rear frame rails, so it made my choice easy to use this car for stock eliminator. i have started on the new engine but its for myself so i am always last on the list and by the end of the day whowants tostay late and build your own stuff!!!! |
Re: 64 No More..
Jimi thanks for the additional info on your car...so the car started life as a "big block" car, lol ...also be sure to post some pic's of it once you're finished it. ;)

Re: 64 No More..
Looks like the same '64 Race Hemi Dodge that started this thread, racing against a '64 Thunderbolt...
