with the uncertainly in your words above and the fact that 14 hours since your clueless statement about Bob's business and finances you have yet to name the source of your misinformation as Bob has requested as well failed to apologize for your attempt to implicate me as your source, it's obvious you were talking out of your ***** which comes as no surprise, in an effort to defend island, a track that if I've seen you at twice in the past 20 years is a lot!

Rich, let me tell you why we are loyal to Bob

4 years ago, Sunday June 14th, Rick Constable asked me to go to Numidia with him on a Sunday for Summit points race. I hadn't been to Numidia since the early 90's and my last time there/first time there I won "Heavy" Eliminator. Later that morning Rick and I are in the lanes and Bob came over and thank us for coming. Much to my surprise, Bob, knew my name, knew I had sold my Chevelle and knew I had bought the Firebird. I was surprised because frankly Bob and I never really talked back in the day when he raced at Island. Maybe a hello on occasion because he pitted across from us. Rick won that day and so did my son.

The point is Bob is a racer as well business man and truly appreciative of his racers/customers and from my observations, he treats everyone that comes in the gate like family. I know he has me and my son, quite the opposite of what I, he and many others experienced at island over a great many years.

Thank you again Bob and thank you Rick. Miss you buddy.

Ed, who didnt know you? You were the friggin big mouth that was shattering the records for getting thrown off every drag racing message board in the country. Everyone knew who you were...lol.

Anyone that has never been to Numidia should try. Its a great experience. I would of never come back to the sport if it wasnt there. Like Bobby said, stop and introduce yourself to him, you will be happy you did. I have never met anyone so willing to help out people. The big dude is one of the best people you will ever meet. Glad to call him a friend. Just wish I could of won a round or 2 when I drove for him...lmao.

Johnny, "big mouth" no, not afraid to speak the truth YES and as a weekly customer at island for 20 years I will state the truth and the facts!

EVERYTHING that I, Bob, Rich Biebel, karecovery, Frankie Cierelli have stated here and others have stated elsewhere on the web is the truth! Island's problems are their own doing that they worked hard at for a long time. NOTHING has/will change there and those that believe otherwise are drowning themselves in koolaid! No surprise some of the biggest cheerleaders on the net aren't racers haven't been there in decades!

Everybody knows who Ed is, where ever you race or frequent on a message board. He is definetly not under the radar. He comes through the front door.

Why don't we just open a Numidia appreication thread. Im sure there are a few already, and there should be. It appears to be the new Atco of Division one, that place was the hottest place for class or bracket racing. I guess its not so hot now. The only thing wrong with it besides the long drive from NJ, it is usually pretty slow there, so not a good place to pump the go fast ego.
Happy 4th everybody

that's right, I don't hide and this is the Numidia Dragway appreciation thread!

Why waste anymore server space talking about the same owner/management that ran their customers off for decades, now begging for handouts that won't be reopened for long.

Why not give the young gal a chance?

Re: ISLAND DRAG-WAY..Hackettstown NJ-Good news.

this has nothing to do with the young gal except that she/they ain't starting over on the right foot lying about being under new management.

It is what it is, Kathy Demarky's track with her daughter out there trying to be the face of island.

Besides, what do you care, you are another that didn't race there.

Re: ISLAND DRAG-WAY..Hackettstown NJ-Good news.

I would be very happy if they succeed.

Never really had any big problems dealing with anyone there and for the most part was always treated well.....

Don't know Melissa at all really.... but Kathy and her parents were nice to me.....Yes things went down hill over the years but I surely can see how this could happen......

Mrs. K was a tough lady but she always had an easy side and anytime there was a beef.....she gave you that little smerk and usually said OK and calmed down........to me anyway....

One day we rented the track to test some cars.....or I should say George Cable rented the track......I was helping him and someone else who I had installed a new engine in his car........I worked like a dog in the hot sun...I .had to change a converter and was a mess by early afternoon. The guy I installed the engine for tried to use his previous converter and there was no way the car would go down the track it was so loose. I sent him to go get one that was brand new at George Cables shop and installed it.....It worked fine....

I made the last run in the car George had bought......Traction was pretty poor......Went 10.0 at 142 mph.....Did a real nice slide thru first gear....and should have run well in the 9's.....

I Went in to see Kate to get a Tech card for the nights racing.....She gave me one for free.......At the end of the night I won Super Pro.....and when I went in to get paid Kate said....".How did you do that?"......I said same way as always.....I was lucky and needed the money.......LOL

She laughed and wrote out the check....

I have many many good memories from there........and we had some terrific races........

I won a Super Pro race one night that had 100 cars......and they also ran a Stock/Super Stock event......The place was packed.....and I have the Island Competition writeup to prove the car count was that high....It says it right in the opening line written by Hank Dinger....

Could it ever get back to days like that......Well I doubt it.....but that would not be their fault as the times have changed dramatically.......

We are at the tail end of the glory days of drag racing.........

I am fortunate to have been a part of it from the mid 1960's

and back then Ed Kowalick was supposed to race Cousin Bruce Morrow one Sunday......Ed was trying to find a car for Bruce to drive......they asked me if I would let him drive my '58 Pontiac that I was racing for fun.....I said NO.....figured he would break it....

Like I said I have a lot of memories from there....and could fill a book with them....and so could a lot of other guys that raced there every week for many years.....

I hope they can survive....
