Cool shot (I thought, anyway) of my LO23 Dart last weekend. Starting to get it dialed in, and should be making some hard passes soon... photo courtesy of Wayne Fuchs, at Thunder Valley Dragways in South Dakota.

Sorry Daryl, guess I was just crabby this morning! Hate to see the momentum of this fascinating thread slow down.

LO23, 8 sec hemi dart, Ford GT, Demon...you definitely have the best of both/all worlds going on. Wowzers.
Might have to plan our SD fall trip when you are racing so we can see it run.

I've definitely been putting them all through the paces this year, no doubt. It's been a fun summer. Would love to have you come out sometime for a visit! But if you want to see the Dart in action, you'd better hurry- the track I run at (Thunder Valley Dragways) is done after Sept 21st. But would be happy to host another car nut for a visit whenever you like!

check out youtube The 2018 Dodge Hemi Shootout Event Recap has been posted by Competition Plus TV. Excellent coverage of Indy shootout rounds with a couple of original cars running - Dan Morgan and Jim Pancake. Running commentary by McCandless....crank it up! A few Canucks doing the rounds and an all dart final both running Ray Barton power (originally from Manitoba, Canada I might add).
The past shootout coverage by CPTV is also awesome to watch and McCandless's commentary is cool.

LO23 I like how you integrated the rear contemporary rims with the old school cragars on the frt.

Jim Pancake's Dart isn't an original.

That is a great pic of the McCandless dart...one of the coolest paint schemes put on a dart.
High Roller still looks exactly like in that pic.

I believe Liteweight the dart being referred to at Dallas Mecum last week is the blue one , no tubs, no cage ,fully restored ,painted blue top to bottom street legal ,I believe its one of the 2 THT darts . The Canadian "Demented Dart " bid to 95,000 at previous auction .

Was that the one that went to Europe? The owner ( I guess he still owns it) posted here from time to time. He had mentioned recently it was on the market. He did have it street legal and it was VERY blue.

Yes sir. He brought it back to the USA and had it displayed at the 50th in Carlisle this past July. The owner went back home but has left it in the USA

Steve ,I havent seen it in person but looked nice in pics and on auction live feed , is there issues you have seen on it? I would think $125g for a car like that is a deal, what in your opinion is it worth as I take it you have inspected it in person to see any issues?

The body and paint are extremely nice on the car. Wheel openings seem a bit on the small side. I'm guessing the car had full quarters possibly put on, as it was converted to a '70-72 body after THT sold the car. It doesn't appear that the openings were cut using a template off an untouched car. Aside from that, look at this picture and go from there. The car needs some more attention to detail to get in the stratosphere of other cars.

Hood hinges gotta go , other than that seems like a very nice car. There were 2 THT darts ,is it this one or the other THT car that was converted to 70-72 body trim , thought I saw some pre resto pics of this car when it was greyish silver and black maybe? It was definately in 68 configuration in those pics and looked like it had been for quite some time as it looked very tired needing full resto , was it converted back to 68 trim along time ago or is this the other THT dart?

It was this....

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k248/dc426/tht11.jpg

I found this quote from post # 2495 in this topic:
The car I owned was the dark blue 4 speed THT dart. When I got it, it was pretty hacked up and the 68 rear was cut off and 70/72 rear added then cut off and the 68 put back on. Inner fenders were gone, fire wall partially gone, trans tunnel partially gone. Fortunately when I bought it in '89 a lot of the hard to find stuff was with it. Original doors, front bumper, front fenders, seats, bases. I built a as close to accurate hemi motor and slick shifted 4 speed as I could. NOTICE: the breathers, plug wires, tach, coil/ignition, shifter, lock out and a ton of other stuff not shown. I sold it and it went to Switzerland in 1998 or 99. I can't remember.

A local/regional automobile hobby-oriented magazine did a little write-up on my LO23 Dart and my 2018 Demon, playing up the angle of it being 50 years between the factory dragstrip monsters of the LO23 and the new Demon. The got a few things mixed up, but overall it was fun to see them do the story. I did end up running several 10.0x's, including a 10.01 in the Demon, with full interior and street drag radials, and DA of 2000. 9's will have to wait until next year now (and 8's will have to wait until next year for the Dart), since my local dragstrip is now shut down for the season.
