Some cool magazine features were published with Raymond's car years ago. Great history, I love the paint scheme and story...one of the cars along with Friel's dart that "set the hook" for my LO23 search and eventual purchase many moons ago.

Prolly the best unrestored example of a L023 in its first "as raced" state today.

Great article! The video explains these cars very well. Ours is unrestored too, but it was raced for several seasons and so it does show the battle scars. It was raced out of Barnett Race Cars with Steve Bagwell’s cars. Terry Earwood was the primary driver.

Very cool Raymond. I have knowledge of your car for many years. A very good original car that has earned every scar and battle wound. I call them personality marks. I was unaware that Terry Earwood was the primary driver. It didnt matter whose steering wheel he was behind he was very good at what he did

Thx for the cool link to the article and video with Michael's Invader...another dart along with Raymond's that set the hook on me for one of these beasts.

Happy New Year to all of you Hemi A body folks. Here's hoping in 2021 you can get your super stocks out to some shows, races, and cruises so people can see what fast cars look like once again.

It was given to Joe Ort from Biscayne Dodge in Miami. He was a policeman and did his own racing and engine work. The picture in primer was the day it was delivered. He painted it red and named it the Deadly Dart. Later the second owner (Warfel) painted it gold and called it the Scat Pack Dodge.

Re: Original hemi dart information

Have one of the King Beast Scat Pack Dodge T-shirts. Now I know why it says LA and not FL on the shirt. I never really looked at the # and name on the car on the shirt. Just thought Glen had been in LA before FL. I knew Glen from Div ll and had some dealings with him when I lived in Jacksonville after the Army.

This is a very little known of or seen L023 forwarded to me by long time member Buck Scottley. It was known as a street racer in Chicago many years ago. I have no other information on it other than its an original car so I thought I would post it here to see what comes up of it.

"Butch" Johnson still owns the Run-a-gate Hemi Dart in Chicago. It was for sale a couple years ago for $500K, so it is not going anywhere anytime soon. 4-speed car, he used to bring it out to shows around Chicago but hasn't for at least 25 years...

Thanx Jimbo
It was posted by his nephew that he does still own it and it was a regular at street racing events there. Any other photos of it. Looks like a very uncut car

Yeah I wondered if anyone would recognize the Camaro... Sometimes folks who pit next to each other are buddies.

I talked to that guy a couple of years ago. He said that was his first time at NY National. He was actually taking a picture of the camaro and didn't remember anything about the Dart.

Re: Original hemi dart information

Yeah maybe the guy can send the original pic, if it's better quality my photographer friend it's possible to maybe clean it up a little.

Re: Original hemi dart information

Yes sir. IIRC it was you Terry that found that photo originally. The guy that took it George Robert just told me the same thing.

I spoke with the original owner of this car a few weeks back. He still has the original MSO when he purchased the car new in 68. Great, great guy to talk with, that really enjoyed racing that car. He even pulled the Xram off it & installed some Hilbornes in 69?

Sold it in 71 sometime, to a couple guys in Maryland who blew the engine up. He doesn't know what happened with it after that.

I do.

In trailer. Sad, but true; at least it’s inside.

Been studying this pic somewhat and I don’t think the window is yellow. I think something yellow is sitting next to the Dart. Look above the roofline of the Dart and more yellow.....

A good friend contacted me this past week regarding the first owner of my car. Soooooo hopefully that will provide some leads I havent been to yet.

We have an original LO23 dart for sale too. Its unrestored, but still looks great for the abuse it's taken during the years. We haven't really been advertising it, but it's time. We have almost 100% of the documentation of owners, including pictures of when it was delivered to the first racer.
