I don't see any logical explanation through this entire thread why guys are opposed to this. Just because it's the way it's always been? I've ran super stock for 20 years and the purse has always been $1800 to win. Should that not change also????

Even if it affects just one race, it's worth it in my opinion.

Rant over

Mark,

You've presented one of the most logical arguments I've seen for Tru-Start. My reason(s) for opposing T-S is not based on traditions though. We'll just agree to disagree on this topic.

One did in the D6 Poll Thread.

Then what is the point of a forum at all ? AND I am NOT stirring **** !!! I cited an example and related it to a new product from Compulink that one of the people that helped push the creation of , has chimed in here as well giving their reasoning. The ones stirring **** are putting monkeys on a wall and stating that the guy at the front of this thread (me) doesn't race stock, his car sucks, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah ...........

In the current method, the system waits until both cars cross the finish line. If only one breaks out that is the loser. If both break out, the one furthest under loses. Tru-Start just makes the starting line work the same way. The system waits until both cars leave the line. If only one fouls that is the loser. If both leave too quickly the one furthest under gets the loss. It's a issue of consistency.

In the case where the slower car goes on green and the faster car redlights, the faster car IS automatically DQd. If fairness is being sought using the T-S system, why does the slower car, in the last instance, get a second chance to win the round and the faster car doesn't (he's immediately DQd)? Sounds like the for-sure DQ is shifted to the faster car in a handicap race.

Don, I have to admit that this another new wrinkle that I haven't heard before.

I would say that the answer is that this is just one of the concessions we have to make in handicap racing.
I'm sure you wouldn't want to run the A, AA ,or factory cars heads up , I wouldn't think.
Using your example, the same could be said about the finish line. If the slow car crosses first, and breaks out 2 hun, then technically he lost ..for a split second. But then the fast car crosses and breaks out 4 hun. Did the slow car get a second chance ? Depends on how much one wants to torture this argument.
I say that it's just the nature of handicap racing.

Also curious if your reasoning is based on the above mentioned premise.

Be a quicker driver and win more rounds...

-------------------------------------------------------

Both the current system and TrueStart encourage red lights by yielding a winner no matter what. I would like to see the timing of the tree changed to reduce the anticipation by the drivers that causes red lights in the first place. Has anyone raced a handicapped start with a pro style tree where all the yellows flash quick at the same time? A quick tree might level the playing field better than a computer picking a winner from a pair of losers.

I would be willing to try it out before making any concrete judgements/statements. ;)

This is how I feel about it too. In all the years I have been racing I think I have only lost 2 or 3 times on a double red light. It's just something that only happens once or twice at an event in the hundreds of runs made.
The only time it sucks is when it happens to "You".

Next race I will run to my car take a faster piss drink my coffee in a gulp and try to stage first and be the first back to my trailer if that is what you mean because I know you are not talking about my driving? And have the quickest monkey!
