Nothing would have to be done. The car being referred to was a grand national body. The engine parts are really getting kind of scarce

Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
Billy, Do you have a 4.1 sitting in your collection? Somewhere around here I have some heads and maybe an intake...

Natural T car, so in U/SA , it weighs over 200 lbs less than a 273 Plymouth (2 bbl, 174 hp) .We recently saw one of those running .85 under. So, how much faster would the Buick be in U/SA? I'm sure you have an idea. BTW an old clapped out Regal ,231 can't be worth too much ..It can be an 81 or newer, I would think. ;-) |

Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
If I were 20 years younger I would build a 1962 Pontiac Tempest 115 hp 4 cylinder for W/SA. No cylinder head specs.,no carb specs, no piston specs..

Billy, you are still a young man. I wish you would build one. 195 c.i. 4 cyl..

Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
So, is the GM 3800 a dead deal?
Don't see much for parts for any V6 anymore. |
Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
could a 2009/10 challenger with the 300 hp 345 cu and an auto be made competitive in Fto H stock not cheap but neat car .

Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
No specs on a 2010 dodge Charger with a 3.5L V6. Bet that would be in the "T/SA" area. Start it off at 170 hp.

It has a steel bar, held in a bowed position, by a series of rubber encased bushings, all inside a bent square tube. The idea was to give it more flat floor space. It was billed as a 6 passenger car. In any case , it's way too bizarre for me, and that's saying something. ;-) |

Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
I guess either the manufacture or someone has to submit something for the V6 combo. Surely not a "dime rocket" but the "new"Challenger is 15 yrs old. 50 yr old cars are good to go though.

Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
Since Paul Wong and I got into building the 5.7 street version. I always wondered why the V6 wasn't in the books. Sure are more of those then Hemis I bet. The SOHC 3.5L has had some changes here and there. Don't go by me. I haven't researched it a ounce. I think it was 215 hp and thru the years was pumped up to 230. Get some generous NHRA person to start it out lower than listed. A real street car with some small mods (headers and what ever) might run index..

Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
How are you going to put headers on an engine with only one port per bank?
|
Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
carefully?
|
Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
I'm fairly certain the 3.5L used through 2010 had 3 exhaust ports in the head, it's the 2011-up 3.6L that doesn't.
|
Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
Not my concern either way. The SOHC engine has 6 exhaust ports if your worried. Your talking about a DOHC engine with one port.

Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!
I had to look at it now that I opened my mouth. So hopefully I'm close. If not forgive me. The Dodge 3.5L SOHC is listed as 250 hp and ended in 2010 models. The 3.6L DOHC V6 is rated as 305 hp. 8 speed transmissions came into play 2015. The same 3.6L in a Charger is rated 292 (exhaust or tune better in the Challenger?). Now at the same time the 5.7 Hemi is rated at 376 hp and is in the book at 300. If either V6s were in the book, which they should be. I would think those combos should get the same percentage off on their advertized Hp ratings to start. Not like there is a mad rush to build street 5.7 Hemis either. Some younger folks like new cars. Me too!

How about a 1980 Trans Am 301 turbo 210/223 natural O car. seems like an easy combination.

Soooooo, who is Andrew Fidler DF/S '05 Cobalt? He sounds like my kinda guy! The word that I got was that he drove the car in. A little bit more improvement and he should be under the index anywhere.
