Evidently Division 7 or this race track in particular just doesn't care! They also changed the order that we were running from the time it was announced and changed it to where stock almost ran back to back with only super stock in between. If you run both stock and super stock, it was really a busy hour and a half, and then nothing til last thing tonight.

Well I am about ready for a nap, so I can stay up long enough to race tonight.

My son and I were at the track Saturday at 815 am, and they certainly welcomed us at that time. We saw some of the Stockers make passes on that round. I assume this family parked in the lot to the west of the pit entrance. We were the 8th car from the gate, so not many spectators made it there much earlier. The ticket booth was already open and selling tickets at this time, so I do not know what this families problem was...

We used the free Saturday tickets (TAD driver) Duane Shields was giving out at his Short Line Express convenience stores, that are located throughout Las Vegas.

I took lots of photos, and will start posting those tonight after work. I did not have internet and computer access in Vegas, like I do at home in South Dakota.

That's good to hear. Shields is a great guy, one of the few alky cars I root for. The Vegas divisional is a tough deal due to car counts and the extraneous classes they cram in. I look forward to retrospective posts by the Hills, Toby and others on how the event can be improved.

There is a major problem when the track decisions makers does not stop the racing on a very poorly prepared track as well as a very cold track . On my run a car blew his engine about mid range and continued to drive the car leaving a trail of oil , parts until the turn off . I was in the water box and waited for appx 50 minutes for the track to be cleaned up. Mean while the starting line temperature dropped 39 degrees , no telling what it was on down the track. As a result I spun big time even though I chipped down big time and lost the race spun all the way is not fun the car was loose all the way down the track The race should have been cancelled right then instead of waiting for a car to crash to call the race until Monday . it seems that the decision makers ever year race until a car crashes then call the race wow what a way to make a decision . I am still very upset over this and most likely get over it

OK, if that is the way you feel, and I understand that it is your opinion, and you are welcome to to it.

But, if "anyone can do it", STEP UP and do it yourself!

You have absolutely no idea of what we have done and all we have gone through to accomplish what we did. So until you go and do it, maybe you should just lighten up a bit.

My comment , to which you took such great offense, was tongue in cheek, and intended for a certain car, who ran with illegal internal component, while repeatedly getting horsepower, and just trying to show off. It was not intended as a slap against the older cars for whom I have the greatest respect. But take it for whatever you wish. I really don't much care, since your opinion is only one, and while some may share it, many do not. And I learned a long time ago, that you can't please everyone. So I just don't even try.

Have a nice day.

Post like this are ugly and uncalled for,David and his son invested their time and hard earned money to build a legal stocker by nhra rules just like many racers do.Congrats on a great year and negative people like MR.GREENE should give us all a break.

Arnold knows more about stockers than the VAST majority of the keyboard jockeys and fat wallets and regardless if you like his opinion he's entitled to it and has certainly earned the right to voice it. Think David handled it already, I would advise giving Mr Greene a break yourself.

Re: "Live" from our Southwestern Swing

David,

Maybe if everyone knew how many motors you had to rebuild or replace since you built the car as well as transmissions, coil packs, fuel injection issues, etc they would have a different opinion. Maybe not, but what is the difference between your car and a fast older Camaro, Chevelle or Mustang? They all take a lot of money, sweat and hard work to make them run fast. To the guys that think the DP's are bogus, not real and way too soft on the hp I can say most of that is B.S. I built my Drag Pak myself (other than the chassis and transmission) and I have worked all year on the car trying to be competitive. My car ran 10.55 first time out, and it took 3 races to get into the 10.40's so they are not automatically fast or way too soft. They take work and the right combination. I finally ran a 10.06 before the last hit on the 6.1's so I'm still not close to the fastest Drag Paks but I'll keep working and figure it out. David did most of the work on his car also and it wasn't the fastest car right out of the box but he has it working now and how can you knock a guy for that? He didn't "write a check" and have someone else do the work, he did it like most other guys who run stock. Enough with the bashing already, we are all racers and car guys!

It is Santangelo vs. Hidalgo in the Final.

By my math, Hidalgo has been eliminated from World. If Santangelo wins, he will pass Lang by two points.

I know we are late to the game on the posts on Jeff and his P/SA Mustang.

We have been pretty busy at Vegas fixing our stuff and sorting out new cars!

I do not know how many people are aware that Jeff has been only racing

stock for a couple of years. We have a car that can run the same class and

could contend for that record so we have no reason to go easy on him.

That being said....... I would bet the Family Jewels (Such as still remain)

That there absolutely was NO INTENT for Jeff to deliberately cheat. We

Know the man and believe in his character. He is pretty new to stock and

working very hard to compete and made a" Newbie mistake" by not

measuring the throttle body. My boy helped him tear it down and confirmed

that the body was OEM and NOT modified in any way from stock. Of course

it should get him bounced still, but he will get it right next time and learned a

from the experience. Jeff is a smart guy and will learn from his experience

some more about stock eliminator. I am happy that we have at least a few

new racers in stock to enrich the Gene Pool.

We own about 20 Race Thermoquads and I am guilty of not measuring a lot

of them if they visually are unmodified and throttle blades are stock size. The

only time they are measured is in teardown when Bruce or another tech

measures at it.

So it could have been me that got bounced and I should know better as I

have been doing this a darn long time........I will spend some time in the

off season measuring all of mine.

DON'T LET THE CRITICS GET YOU DOWN....YOU ARE REALLY DOING

WELL WITH YOUR CAR!!!

Well we are sitting at a rest area in Texas where we stopped to avoid running into tornados and hail. As we left Amarillo, there was hail and rain and we turned the weather radio on and found out that the Walmart that we had planned on staying at tonight in Elk City, OK had been hit with 90 mph winds and hail and there are tornado warnings all around. So we stopped at a rest area and Larry went in and found out that they have 2 tornado shelters in there. So I guess I will sleep with my clothes on tonight, just in case. Keith and Tonya Lynch and Paul Dilcher are behind us in about Amarillo. Hopefully they are stopping for the night there.

Re: "Live" from our Southwestern Swing

Larry, did you get my dog? We found a friend at the 1st rest area in New Mexico. The dog helped us inspect the motor home when we pulled in. Looked like a healthy happy stray with no collar. Looking at a can of Science Diet #7037 (what my dogs eat), there is a picture of the dog. It is a breed, I thought it was a retriever (it smiled all the time) cross with a shepard cause of the ears. It is a Japanese breed related to the husky. We didn't see the dog in the morning, otherwise he (or she) would be a resident of Louisiana. Anyone coming this way, check on my dog. Lots of time on my hands since the season is over.

Jeff we stopped at the rest area, walked around calling out " Here boy, Here girl" without success. In fact we put out cool clean water in a proper place setting, again no response. Fifteen min. later we were on the road. We were prepared, two rolls of stamps and a large empty wine box.

Well when we left OK a month ago, it was raining and it is raining again here in OK. Just been driving down the road. Oh, BTW, Larry fired me as tour guide after lunch today. We stopped for a buffet in Hinton, OK at the Sugar Creek Casino. Thought we could get some vegetables, plenty of truck parking. Well, Mike Rice must have been in charge of this buffet! That didn't work so well for Artie when NHRA told him his completely bone stock straight from the junkyard turbo was too big, or when Griffith lost a World Championship from having a complete bone stock out of the box OEM replacement AC Delco cylinder head on his Cavalier that was legalized a couple weeks after he was tossed, or when Himes was tossed from Indy because his cylinder heads "looked TOO stock" and was later determined that they looked stock because they were... STOCK.

It's obvious you didn't do anything intentionally wrong, but by the book, I can't see them allowing the record retroactively. But I know you'll come back and set the record again to their satisfaction, and maybe feel a little vindication. Good luck,

I know you have wanted this record for a very long time. You and Tom have busted your humps to create the best car you know how. I can picture Tom as some mad scientist mixing up smoking dyno sessions. If they will not let you win by playing their rules, maybe it is time to rethink that record. A win on Sunday in bracket mode is worth a BUNCH more than the 8 x10 framed cert that Glendora will send you....................
