We've been doing weekly "Name That Track" and daily "Name That Driver" features on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/LooseRocker), which often includes S/SS cars. I'll share today's here, as it applies to the event:

Right away this morning, Brent Mazur quickly identified this N/SA Dodge Mirada as Charles Myers.

Charles Myers is a young up-and-coming racer channeling his passion for the sport into a new venture called The Voice of Drag Racing, featuring race coverage, driver interviews, industry news, and much more. He will also be providing race coverage of Stock, Super Stock, and Pro Stock from the NHRA Gatornationals, and will be covering the Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals in May. Re: Class Nationals event planning

Myron Piatek from Florida and Chris Stephenson from Indiana were just a couple of the Stocker guys checking out another Loose Rocker event this weekend, the St. Patrick's Classic at Virginia Motorsports Park. On Saturday, we had 399 entries, ran one time trial plus all of eliminations (including one round of buybacks: this one was a bracket race... none of that at the NCN!), and completed the first final by 9:30 PM! Awesome job by our great racers and the incredible VMP staff. They've really set the bar.

The gauntlet has been thrown down... can we break 400 cars at the Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals? Oh, BTW... NO AHFS! Just sayin'... ;) :D

Michael,
In the Quick 32 race, if 2 cars in the same class meet after first round will they race heads up or will they each use their cic index earned in prior rounds?

Anytime two cars in the same class meet, it's heads-up. Refer to Competition Eliminator rules.

Re: Class Nationals event planning

ok guys just talked to Michael and he told me to TRY to handle this question, the CIC race is basically like Comp Eliminator, a driver will carry his or her's index. I will have shoe polish and will put the index's on the windows from rd 2 on (first round everybody is on the regular class index) So if speed racer in his SS/DA lost 4 hundreds off of his index in round 1 (I forget how far under we said the CIC will effect) anyhow then in round 2 its 10.16, but if 2 drivers meet up in round 4 and both are in same class, it doesn't matter how much either driver has lost CIC, they will be heads up and if the winner takes more then what he has already took the round before CIC wise, he loses more. Hope this helps, bottom line is try to win the round without killing your index.

The CIC trigger is 1.25 under using the "old" NHRA indexes (current index plus 3 tenths). Using your example of SS/DA; the index would be 10.50 (10.20+3 tenths), and a run of 9.24 (1.26 under would trigger a CIC hit of .01 for the next round.

Well heres my plans for the Northern Class Nationals weekend If things go the way I want them to I will be driving down from Sandusky and I am bringing 4 or 5(my buddies dad if he decides he wants to join) complete newbies with me. They have only been to one drag race before(A bracket race I was racing at and won first round but broke and that was the end of that day LOL)My friends are all under 24 years of age and they are talking me into camping(TENT camping for all 3 days) How much is Camping at Trails? and I hope I can turn some young newbies into Class Racing fans or atleast Drag Racing fans without the circus Nitro acts and jet cars and wheelstanders at match races and NHRA races but instead by going to 3 days of what im thinking this race to be is the SECOND COMING OF THE WOODSTOCK OF STOCK BODIED DRAG RACING! I hope theyre may be a few new gen Vettes running Stock?

Re: Class Nationals event planning

Glad you're bringing some young bucks down to get a taste of this kind of racing. Don't know if many new gen Vettes will show up, but there will be plenty of wheelstanding going on, I'm sure. I'm bringing old farts with me, but we love it anyway. Good luck camping in a tent,,, been too long since I last did that, won't start again too soon. Looking forward to an event that could possibly surpass the first one years ago. Just knowing it probably won't be near as hot is comforting to me,, it was brutal in 2001, but its a weekend I'll never forget. Take care,, hope to meet you there.

T&D Machine Products has stepped up in a big way for their Stock and Super Stock customers, announcing a far-reaching contingency program for Sunday's Main Event. Both Stock and Super Stock drivers with the T&D decals and rocker arms can claim $500/WIN, $250/RU, and $100/Semis!

T&D relies on racers who understand what racers want and need – a rocker arm that withstands the abuse racing dishes out. The best engine builders in all forms of racing trust that when they bolt-on a set of T&D shaft-mount roller rockers, their valve train worries are over. T&D manufactures rocker arm systems for over 400 cylinder heads and has developed a reputation for reliability and customer service second to none in the aftermarket industry, all proudly made in the USA. I certainly hope you or anyone else would never feel the need to close the lanes at such a promising event. If Las Vegas actually made that announcement, then shame on them. Let us not forget who the customer is.

Michael Beard 04-01-2014 11:25 AM

Re: Class Nationals event planning

There is absolutely ZERO need to generate a problem that does not exist. As we have gone over multiple times, class calls will be made giving racers more than ample time to prepare their cars and report to the lanes. If someone is having a problem with their car, notify us ASAP if possible. If not, we will attempt to locate the racer, assess the situation, and work with them and their opponent to resolve if possible.

Remember when you used to get a medal along with the trophy and other accolades for winning a National event? We are just one month away from the start of the Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals $100,000 Stock and Super Stock Revival! It all goes down at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, OH, May 2-4, 2014! For event info, go to www.looserocker.com

Re: Class Nationals event planning

ATTENTION RACERS! Remember we are running NHRA classes (with .30 added to the Index), as well as IHRA Crate Motor (-.10 Index), Pure Stock, Stock GT, and SS/Production. 9.99-quicker cars MUST have current NHRA license & chassis certification. Go to http://www.nhra.com/userfiles/file/T...p_Physical.pdf
for IHRA License Transfer information.

Remember also that the "new factory race cars" will be running in classes separate from the "old" traditional cars in Stock. (No changes to weight breaks or HP: just given an "FX" suffix to their class designation) IHRA Fuel-Injected cars, Trucks, FWD, Modified/Compact, etc will run the NHRA classes, weight breaks, HP, etc.

You can get PDF links to the classes & indexes at the bottom of the Northern Class Nationals page of the Loose Rocker website at http://looserocker.com/?page_id=27

Re: Class Nationals event planning

https://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/...26781278_n.jpg

We had a meeting at the track this morning to go over some details and make sure everyone's on the same page. We have several great announcements to make:

Early Parking
Early Parking will open at 12 Noon on Monday, April 28. Nitro Joe Jackson will be handling the gate. Gates will be open for new arrivals until 10PM each weeknight. There will be NO STACKING on Sunday, April 27. If you're coming from Indy, you can make the trip on Monday. There's a major event going on at National Trail that weekend and don't need trailers stacking up on the entrance road.

Early parking is a privilege made possible by National Trail Raceway and Nitro Joe. Please respect these ground rules:
- You may save ONE pit space on each side of you. NO roping off half an aisle!
- Absolutely NO pit vehicle activity after hours.
- Absolutely NO activity on the racing surface or shutdown area.
- Absolutely NO pit vehicles operated without a driver's license (ie., no kids)

Upon arrival, Nitro Joe will issue you a card noting the number of race entries and crew members you have. Thursday morning, early arrivals can make their way to the gate with that card and purchase their tech cards. As soon as we get through the morning rush, we'll open the gates for any of those who were stacked overnight, so we'll get people in earlier than the posted 12 Noon.

On a side note, it should go without saying: Please keep your pit area clean. There are trash barrels located throughout the facility, and we'll provide drivers with your very own trash bag when you come in. :)

Test n' Tune
National Trail Raceway will conduct a test n' tune session on Thursday from 1pm - 6pm, for $50. (Purchase at the gate. Must be a weekend participant.) Since Lucas Oil Class Eliminations blast off on Friday, this is a great opportunity to get everything just perfect! We'll open Tech a little earlier than originally scheduled to make sure Test n' Tune participants are ready to go.

Tech
Tech will be located at the pavilion, just as it is at the LODRS and Sportsnats events. (For those who have not been to NTR, look for the green roof behind the main grandstand in this pic. Can't miss it!) Please fill out your tech card clean, clear, legible, and complete, and bring it, your gate receipt and your car to Tech. Safety Tech will be in accordance with official NHRA E.T. rules. (See above post for specific info for 9.99-quicker cars) Upon completion of tech, you will sign the waiver and be issued your Run Sticker (place at the bottom of the windshield, driver's side) and get your wristband. (CREW: bring your 3-Day Crew receipt to the tech area to sign the waiver and get your restricted area wristband)

Saturday S/SS Combo
Entries for Saturday's NitroPlate S/SS Combo Warmup can also be purchased at the gate. If you wish to participate, please purchase your entry by Noon on Saturday so we have time to get everyone in the computer. Bring your receipt to Tech to get your S/SS Combo entry decal (place on windshield next to your run sticker).

Payouts
Payouts will be in Suite 105, first floor of the tower.

We look forward to having you join us for this historic family reunion/class racing event!
