Welcome aboard, wagonboy! Holler if you need any help, tips, etc. Here's a guy who's going to get his feet wet, run the index, then run -.20 under, then run -.50 under and so on... not because someone forced him to spend money, but because he WANTS to go faster, yet do so within his means. Class racing does have a huge Performance component to it... but in my opinion it's about self-satisfaction, not the satisfaction of others. |

2) Maybe he WANTS to build the car he chose and is enjoying working on it. 3) I think the standard Cobalt is a great candidate for Stock too, but not everybody wants to build or race a FWD. And if there are other rentals that will run under the index then hummmm... maybe they're not factored right! |

[QUOTE= I would love to know what kind of car someone could pick to run in stock and not run the index?
Almost anything with it's original Gross HP rating intact, almost anything with an early 70s inflated NET HP rating intact, almost anything that still has to use the ORIGINAL (not superceded) stock parts, oh yeah, anything built by a "newbie" without an "elder" looking over his shoulder making sure that he doesn't build it to the letter of the rules! Oh, one more thing, anything that hasn't had a racer convince a tech inspector that the specs are all wrong on and had them changed to his benefit! |

Gosh, I wish I'd known this five years ago. It sure would have saved me alot of time and hard work. Not a whole lot of money though because I love trying to see what I can do with what I got. I do realize that there are certain aftermarket things you have to have. Used to be all you had to do was pick a good combination, buy headers, tires and a lower gear and you were competitive in stock. It takes a whole lot more than that now. |
