Hell you can go to enterprize and rent a car that will run under.Times have changed over the years, just maybe everybody can't run stock and super stock anymore.

You might rent it from Enterprise and it might be quick........
BUT IT WON'T PASS FUEL CHECK !!

OK -- Dale Shannon,

I have a car that did not run the index. Its a Chevy Nova with a 307/2brl in it. I thought I could have some fun trying to get that particular motor to run. There are lots of 350 powered Nova's but not many people want to "mess" with an engine spec like what comes with a 307. Only person who did not laugh at me was Billy Nees. Thank you Billy Nees.

I must have figured wrong in wanting a challenge and trying to be different. Spent some money with the intention of getting satisfaction out of beating the index not beating up my bank account. I can always drop the 350 back in...............

In 1988 Chrysler sold 500 Shadow CSX turbo car complete with 5 speed manual tranny. To Thrifty rent a car.
Every 1988 Shadow CSX started life as a rental car. And they could go.

That is what got me back to racing NHRA.

IHRA's pure stockers are allowed "PUMP GAS" because of emission controls and cats.

Hey wagon boy Im sure you have a nice car and will do well in stock, your combo is not the norm by any means, but you have to agree when you here someone say they built a stocker and have been racing for 15 years its odd to here it doesn't run the index. Billy Nees I remember your 6 in row being at the top of the chart every race, man that feels like yesterday but was in the early 90's.

Dale,

Thanks, I have been around drag racing my entire life. I have been a active participant for 15 or so years. I just purchased a stock eliminator 1980 malibu wagon 305- it is right at or just over the index. I took it out for my first time last weekend. My 15 years has been behind the wheel of my 1963 Falcon 2 door wagon- chopped with a sbc. Bracket/ SST- car my father helped me build 10 years ago. I agree Dale, if I had not got under the index in 15 years of trying, there would be something wrong with me !

I wasn't directing that at anybody per se.

Thats why I am running a car that has a choice. FWD, or AWD!

I remember years ago, Rick Wolf wanted to race his AWD Twin Turbo Dodge Stealth in Stock, and they wouldn't let him. (This was when they were new... can't remember if it just wasn't in the guide, they had an issue with it being AWD, or what the deal was...)

Is it just me, or were there more FWD cars running before they consolidated a bunch of the classes?
