"Rumor has it that Richie Stevens Jr. is going to drive one of Larry Cummings Super stockers. That will be the first time for a full tree since he drove Jr Dragsters"

Nice try Greg.. sounds good, but I believe I saw Richie Jr. run Sr's D/SR in Comp a couple of times.
For you young guys D/SR was a class for V-6 engines that NHRA had quite a while ago. They did away with the A/SR weight & moved B,C,D up.That is why there is no D/SR in Comp.

Adger, the only ones that drove that car was Sr. himself and my cousin Jerry "the Thriller" Virgadamo. Craig Bourgeois might have taken some test laps in it as I might recall as he and Joe Martino were building the engines. Richie Jr. has driven Jr. dragsters, Pro Stock IHRA , Pro Stock NHRA .Pro Stock Truck and Pro Mod only.

Hey Larry, My mom wanted to know how "Dinner" was last night?

Jason, tell Janice that "Dinner" was great as usual!

Looks like it is going to be a great day here in LA. This morning it was really foggy, but the sun is coming out now and it looks good for the rest of the day. If you are planning on coming down, be sure and bring your bugspray. Was standing outside this morning talking to Ray & Jason Buckner and got bit by mosquitoes and stood in an ant hill and got my foot ant bitten. So now I have the bug spray on.

Also saw Jerry Newsome and Painter Stevenson this morning. Also saw Jerry Bennett's old Aspen that Butch Marlowe now owns. Met him this morning. He is taking good care of Jerry's baby.

It is still pretty muddy here, but there is still plenty of parking. There are not calling for more rain until tomorrow.

We start test'n tune at 1 and then top stock at 6.

More updates later.

Talked with Bob Downing. He and Zaskowski drove down from Mich. 22 hours. Also saw Tim Cole, Marlene Nelson, Tementos, Pouceau, Bobby Roper, Domangues, Carey, John and Tim Barlett, Larry Hudson, Ronnie West, Jeff, Joey, and Frank Teuton.

Talked to Paula Cotten and see is trying to decide if she wants to run Top Stock this evening or drink?

More later.

Just made our 1st pass down the track and it wasn't too good. Lost .11 in 60' since last weekend. Maybe they will spray the track a liitle. The air by my guages was 1681'. It is 83 and partly sunny.

A few other racers that are here: Charlie and Austin Ford, Edmond Richardson, McClister, Bob Dennis, Jeff Dona, Sammy LaPorte, Sammy Pizzalato, Dick Lux.

More later.

Ed: Mike & Paula said you must be talking about years ago when they ran at Tulsa. You couldn't get by with that now!

More racers seen: Westcott's Warfish--He didn't make a good run. J. Allen Sherman, I think in a SS/AH.

More later.

Top Stock Qualifying:
1-Sammy Pizzalato 10.37, 126
2. Floyd Russo 10.39, 127

7. Jerry Newsome 10.54, 126
8. Edmond Richardson 10.75
9. Frank Teuton 10.92
10. David Buckner 11.00

Sorry I don't have all mph, but sometimes they took it off the scoreboard too quickly.

Round 1:
Pizzalato 10.38, 126 beat Buckner 10.76, 121
Russo 10.34, 127 beat Teuton 10.62, 122
Richardson 10.61, 107 beat Stewart after he redlighted
Russo, Jr. 10.35, 129 beat Newsome after he about hit the wall and lifted
Cooter 10.32, 129 beat Larry 10.42, 126 (by only .012)

Round 2:
Cooter 10.35, 129 beat Russo 10.34, 127
Russo, Jr 10.41, 129 beat Edmond 10.41, 130 (Russo had a perfect light)
Pizzalato just drove thru on the bye

Round 3:
Sammy 10.35 beat Russo, Jr, 10.41
Cooter, bye

Round 4:
Sammy 10.31, 126 beat Cooter 10.39, 118

We had a great time running Top Stock.
Thanks to Jeff Teuton for all his work and monetary support getting this to work.

Quite a few went down the track today for test n tune. Doesn't seem to be very many people here this year. I guess we will see just how many after 1st round of qualifying in the morning. We run at 9. Get 2 qualifying shots, then 1st round of class.

I will be surprised if there are enough cars to be a 7 round race. Same for Super Stock, also.

More tomorrow.
Patsy
