In a piston engine, it prevents pinging by cooling the combustion chamber and protecting the engine; there are not power gains. In a turbine engine, it cools down the hot section of the combustor so the pilot does not exceed the EGT and torque limits of the turbine engine.

The water injection acts like an intercooler, it cools the air fuel charge. More power can be made by increasing boost (density of air) and increasing the amount of fuel.

Also, if you inject the water BEFORE the supercharger, the supercharger will increase efficiency as you will have less leakage between the high pressure and low pressure side of the supercharger.

Well ya' just lost the last bit of credibility you might have had with me on that one Dick! :p

Wonder why no one ever tried that technology on a drag racing engine? Would not have to buy nitrous!!

That was a water/alchohol mix. I used to work on old Air Force cargo planes that used the same system (Called ADI, for Anti Detonation Injection) during take-offs.

Here is one a guy here in Tulsa is promoting. Supposedly a 50% to 75% increase in fuel economy. Guys here are paying $500.00 each to be trained and "certified" to install them. Supposedly a money back deal if you don't see a 50% increase.

I probably won't jump up and buy one.

Jeff Lee, What I had credibility? ha ha.... Have you tried the Tornado deal..? We honestly showed 1-2 on a older Impala 6 on the road.....2001 I think. now the other burn water or the 100 mile Carb stuff. NO WAY would I even try that stuff.

I know this is going to date me, the Olds F-85 with a turbo (1963?) came with an injection system and had a bracket for the bottle of what I think was alochol and water mixture to add to the system like the bottles that they had for windshield washers. I know some people hurt their engines because they didn't keep the system filled. Can you imagine an owner doing that now?

On second thought maybe I better see if I can find some time to get you that PCM
