The only way to eliminate sandbagging during qual. is by only providing ET and /or have the computer make random pairings so that you cannot attempt to pick a spot. With the tragedies at or past the finish line at some tracks not being able to upgrade the shutdown safety area I kinda expected the 1000' racing to be a possibility.

One of drag racings biggest problems spectator wise is the down time betweens passes, the pros down time between runs now seems even worse since the cars race for a shorter time, how would slowing for an extra 300' from a slower speed make the sportsman program feel?

(Like those simply boring, dragging on forever, NASCAR and IRL cautions to tighten up the field or get the slower cars out of the way? How many races could Petty and Peareson have won under this set up?)

Do you guys/gals see NHRA making everyone step up their safety equipment? Such as a V/SA car being in an accident where the drivers side door is against the retaining wall and we don't have to have fireproof jacket or pants? Or more like the HANS device in faster cars?

How many of you have actually gone to the trap area and planned what you would do at an event before you make a pass there?

There would not be as much sandbagging. Ihra and The SSSSA race on 1/8 mile sometimes. The racing is much closer and the action is much faster. There is very little time to make adjustments during the run. You really must hit the tree and run the dial at the shorter distance. Its also much easier on your equipment. Dont get me wrong I like the 1/4 mile. The shorter distances are also alot of fun.
