Tanker...used to do a lot of street racing back in the day outside of Celina! That was in 1970-71.We used to hang out at the shopping center just on the north side of town. All the locals knew when we came to town as we used to soap the fountain on the southside of town. Knew a guy named Chuck Behm and Lonnie Lipp and there was a guy they all called DUCK FOOT that was a hoot! Anywhere we could find to run on 127 or or 29 worked for us. Dont condone the street racing deal today though. Always liked the nice houses in the center of town. There was also a guy that had a Green Shelby that worked at the Gulf station in town as well.Lotsa a fun in Celina and St. Marys. Some of the locals even came to Englewood a few times after we all became friends. Too bad the young people today dont have that kinda fun........ If I remember right the Red Door and the Other Place is where the women were.

I had a dark blue 65 SS Chevelle at the time that was an original L-79 car. Mostly came there in a dark green 70 Cuda with a 383. Even HOT ROD from the Parsons and Myers gang used to go up there with us. We used to rent 2-3 cabins at a time from an elderly lady that Bondo Behm turned us onto. Did you know the Smalley girls from over on Lake Acres Drive? You are right about the guy with the Shelby...I think everyone called him Cooky. I believe he had a good running motorcycle as well. |
