Tow Vehicle: Bigger is better!
Bigger engine reduces wear, bigger brakes help you stop, bigger cooling keeps from overheating. I watched a guy towing a 69 chevelle with his 'burb 350 lose it while trying to stop on the interstate and the whole rig slid across the median. |
Re: Towing question
Towing with a 1/2 ton suburban is very scary on hills. The 3/4 ton is a pleasure to drive.

Re: Towing question
You will likely spend more money and still not end up with what you want or need. You aren't the first person here on this board to buy something because it is a "great" deal and end up spending more down the road. Some good advice here. Maybe if you need to try and keep it real low buck, buy a small open trailer to go with the 1/2 tonner and repair it to that spec. I have seen decent but worn 3/4 burbs for under 5k if you want to stick with the enclosed trailer. If you drive a 1/2 ton and then a 3/4 ton or 1 ton, you will understand the diff. It is huge in the braking and stability dept. Never know when you need it.
