Re: houston car count
Ed, don't look at the quota numbers. look at last years numbers. 207 sportsman one less class. If there was another class it would have been about the same.
You can spin the numbers anyway you want, but so far the numbers are about the same as last year. If things go down hill then you can say I told you so. I'm little tired of all the NHRA bashing. I don't understand why so many racers bash NHRA and still show up at the track. Ed, you were at most of the same racers I was last year, if NHRA is so bad why do you support them? Terry, I may be a sheep, but I'm having fun. |
Re: houston car count
Ken,
A lot of us have issues with the arrogance and hypocrisy of nhra's management. We don't have issues with the hard working nhra folks that we deal with at nhra events. Also, we attend the nhra races because they provide a meeting place for all of our friends from around the region. Of course we pay for this service. |
Re: houston car count
Kenny - I'm with you -- although I'm not the NHRA supporter I once was I still feel if we don't back and support them we'll soon be looking for somewhere else to race and play . All of us should be alot less on the negative side and more to the positive side of things .Its still their bat & ball we're using ................

Re: houston car count
Thanks Jack, there not perfect and I can also find fault with them, but like you said, its there ball game.
With all the bad things that are happening in the real world, can we just have fun racing, even if it is not perfect. See you at Atco Jack, and lets keep the positive up beat attitude even if we are in the minority. |
Re: houston car count
Jack,
The nhra bat and ball are partially subsidized by our membership fees, entry fees and tax dollars. nhra has been receiving exceptional tax relief for half a century; mostly because of the Sportsman racers. That gives every one of us the right to critique nhra's often shameless behavior - if we want to. We are here to have our voices heard! That inculdes all of our voices - anyone who has an opinion can jump in. This is a great site right in the middle of a great country. |
Re: houston car count
It's not just that it's their (NHRA) ball and bat and stadiums that we're using.
It's their rule book & HP factors. Has been that way for 50+ years. That is the standard that we all use including the regional associations. Without that we would only be bracket racers. So, what is the complaint? Comes back to one thing. NHRA management. |
Re: houston car count
Ken, Bruce and Bobby:
You are all right. Sinced all the original founders and organizers have gone on all the newbys are interested in is how are they going to make enough money to keep their big fat salaries. They are cutting back all over the country but I bet their salaries are not being cut. An organization is only as good as the Chiefs and all the Good Chiefs are retired are dead. That includes all the Division Directors, etc. not just NHRA Headquarters. |
