>>>"I dont understand why people trash on old combos for decades and decades"
Maybe it's because until recently, there hasn't been much offered from Detroit in the way of "New combos" for Stockers and Super Stockers.... Or, maybe it's what they HAVE and can be built up into a competitive car a little at a time, over a few years. Not everone has fifty grand to drop on a new car to race, just because it's easier. |
Re: First New Challenger/ Indy
Just my two cents worth... I looked this car over real good. Very nice car and nice owners. But this is NOT a NHRA Stocker.... NHRA take your head out of your back side and make a class for these crate motor cars. And while your at it Danny ( old buddy?) GET THE HP FACTOR UP WHERE YOU KNOW IT BELONGS ON THESE CRATE MOTORS ( ford and chrysler). Personally I wouldn't give a rats back side if NHRA went belly up tomorrow! Other than that I'm happy here at Indy!! Keith

Re: First New Challenger/ Indy
Keith is wright. I think the factory involvement in stock is a good thing for sportsman racing but I'll be dead & gone before NHRA gets the HP anywhere near correct. They need to have a class called factory stock added to stock elim. There would be lots of interest in stockers running mid 9s & our old dinasours would not have to run heads up with them, after all we already have the injected cars to contend with. Just my .02.

Re: First New Challenger/ Indy
It Seems to me that the Chevy racers are all concerned about the new combinations coming in Drag racing and I suspect they are correct as the chevies have for a long time a major advantage in the HP area? and now that advantage just may be no longer there especially if the new combinations are in your class or you were building a bogus combination to run in the class the new cars are in, hey for years everyone told me about my old pig Pontiac work harder on your stuff which ii have big time almost out of money doing this, so now I say work harder on your stuff especially if the advantage you had is gone and the hp factor is now fair on your combination just my opinion.
Spike calm down in your old age LOL at US By the way to all the chevy whiners let me know i have plenty of whining in my cellar.lol |
Re: First New Challenger/ Indy
Don,
I would think anyone in the higher classes, Ford Mopar or chevy would be concerned. We do run a 396 chevy. I am not whining & I don't think 405 HP is bogus for that comb. What you have done with the Pontiac is impressive but they mite put a bigger cam & intake on one of those cars & you would really have to go to work on your pontiac. Jim |
Re: First New Challenger/ Indy
Jim :
You are right. We will work harder and whine more. this has been going on since the beginning of Stock and Super Stock racing . I know i remember and so does Spike( Keith Lynch) he is older than most LOL at all of us We figure it will take a total of 17 years to get the 400 chevy hp to where it should be as well as some 350 chevies wow which is ok My daughter Kati will have the Super Stocker Pontiac with one very smart racer as her Crew Chief her Husband Brian Vanpoppel and Tom and Jean ,Then she will benefit from all the whine and cheese we Pontiac Racers have done. did I mention We have the cheese you chevy racers bring the whine. Keith Lynch By the way what year was it when i ran you in Minn and there was a picture at the finish line with both of us looking at each other before i let you win? Was that 20 or 25 years ago? haha By the way Keith you still own us a lunch for your win at the 1985 Sportnationals win at Bowling green , or have you for got already |
