Re: Aluminum 8 3/4 Housing
Bob,
That'll happen when Ford buys G.M. and resurrects/exhumes Pontiac. :) Bill |
Re: Aluminum 8 3/4 Housing
Bill,
I guess that's like the AMC / MOPAR shotgun wedding that put Dana 60's in the AMX. Just to set the record straight, the last Pontiac rolled off the assembly line 28 yeras ago in 1981. Bob |
Re: Aluminum 8 3/4 Housing
According to the GURU's a Dana is .2 slower anway. Thats why I just put one in my 3745lb stocker.
Herb Jr I'm not a GURU |
Re: Aluminum 8 3/4 Housing
Bob,
FYI, NHRA told Evans to take out his aluminum 9" center section. Even after it appeared in ND as a tech article. It falls under "no light-weight components unless otherwise specified" in the rulebook. Obviously there are many loop holes under that category. Please email me at the address below. I want to discuss something else with you. Thanks, Jeff |
Re: Aluminum 8 3/4 Housing
Jeff,
Thanks for that information. Bill |

I saw a post from Larry Hill earlier that switching to a Dana did not slow him down, although I assume he was able to maintain the same weight by removing ballast. Maybe you are saying the same thing but being more subtle :-) Bill Lamb |
Re: Aluminum 8 3/4 Housing
I have heard of Max Wedge cars going faster with the Dana's. Just look under John Shaul's car, if it will make it faster it's on John's car.

Re: Aluminum 8 3/4 Housing
Years ago Car Craft did a back to back at the track test of an 8 3/4 to a Dana 60 in an A-Body. No difference.

Re: Aluminum 8 3/4 Housing
I have done this to two different cars and the A body car worked better with the Dana. The wagon we changed alot of stuff at once but its .07 quicker in 60 now than it was 2 weeks ago.
