although some of the really early obd2 (like some of the guys are talking about) CAN be jumped but i don't remember which terminals to jump so the smoke don't get let out....96-up yer gonna need a scanner...

btw, you can pick up code readers pretty cheap, i guess, but i like a data stream...

Lynn, if it's a GM powertrain, the same scan tool, or code reader that works on a truck will work on your motorhome. I program those all the time. GM computers is all I do, all day every day. The '96/'97 454" trucks use a slightly different computer than the 1998/2000. Tell the kid at Autozone to select 1997 as the year model and he may get in. I often see motorhomes called one year newer than the chassis actually is. Probably the chassis were still on hand from the previous year when they built the motorhome.

Good luck, Ed

You can now buy a cheap scan tool from Kragen that will read any OBD2 code and give a breakdown
on any vehicle equipt with OBD2 or you get a little nicer one from Mac tools that does the same and has
some extra features such as Web updates and comes with a cable for USB. I have the MAC one and it works great lets you also Clear the codes. Cost $100.00
