Re: New Camaro ET's
Think how simple your valve train would be if you only had one valve....who cares about exhaust...?
Well Jim, I've got just the thing for ya' to stuff in that Mopar. Getcha a blown 3-53 Detroit diesel. Transfer port(like a 2-stroke) on the intake and a conventional valve on the exhaust. Their unique sound earned them the nickname 'Yamaha'. Ken |

Re: New Camaro ET's
We took a bone stock 2010 Camaro with an automatic transmission to E-Town last month and ran a 13.2 at 108. With just a tune, we went 12.89 at 109.5. With a set of American Racing Headers (1 3/4") and a larger camshaft, we went 12.21 at 114 mph in 3500-feet.
On another note, we put a P-1SC-1 Procharger on a Pontiac G8 (almost identical to the Camaro) and went 11.42 at 124 mph with a 2.08 60-foot and stock converter. Both cars are still averaging 30 mph on the highway, idle quietly at 550 rpm, and are on 93 octane. We now have a Pontiac G8 with an LS7 (Z06 engine) and a D-1SC Procharger that makes 880 horsepower. The independent rear has consistently been launched in recent testing with the new Camaro and a Vigilante 3200-stall torque converter with sub 1.55 60-foot times completely stock. The 6L60E automatic transmission is absolutely bulletproof. |

Re: New Camaro ET's
Treessavoy- That cross fire 3.2 motor is a Mercedes Benz motor. The same one used in the older AMG cars. It has a 3 valve head.

I have a '08 G8GT, I've gone a best of 12.560 @ 109.64 on borrowed 18" drag radials with a 1.78 - 60'. ECM/TCM tune, 1.75" ARH headers, 3200 Yank converter and a Roto-Fab CAI, stock cam (.472 lift). I have a new set of MT ET Street drag tires to try this year. What tires did you use to get your 1.55 60' in that cammed Camaro? Did you brake stall it or leave from idle? George Cottell Jr. |
Re: New Camaro ET's
Haven't heard it being THAT fast. Many have spewed either tranny/output or axle on the ground when launching with street tires let alone slick. The camaro stopped shipping to dealers for a bit to get the tranny issue sorted out. In fact, check out the camaro forums and you will be sickened by the quality issues being reported.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=70 Also, here's a list they made up (from various people) for things to watch out for; - BATTERY CABLE(MOSTLY V8's) - OIL LEAK - DIGITAL SPEEDO INACCURATE - PULLY SHAKING - BROKEN TRANNY - IGNITION MECHANISM ISSUE WITH KEY GETTING STUCK IN CAR - RS tail lights installed (all 4 of them). - Rocker Panel aligned with body and clipped in correctly - A pillar trim not loose and falling off. - Bumper rub with body. - Trunk opens with switch and remote - Correct speedo/tach gauge ring color - Ambient lighting on drivers door as bright as passenger door - Doors gaps /alignment - Dirt/bubbles in rally stripes - Halo's work correctly and match in brightness. - Door panel not scratched from seat belt. - Door sill trim not loose or coming up. - Rear spoiler not loose. - shift knobs wearing out extremely fast could be faulty material - AC system stops blowing cold air in random durations, most likely blockage in AC drainage - clunking noise in changing gears - trunk opens with remote and laser cut key - USB/aux work - rear spoiler is installed correctly - pillars are snapped on right - breaks don't squeek - GFX installed correctly - wheels are tires in good condition - check for damage in the interior, basic procedure - check the locking mechanism of both doors I hope it turns out ok as competition is good, but man, they had what, two years to sort it out before it was actually intro'd?? WTF? First year on any vehicle used to be poison, now pretty much EVERY car maker is building higher quality than even just a few years ago. No excuse for some of this crap though. |
