383 2x4 was 343hp now 330 hp .......I'd love to build one of these cars, I had a '62 Dodge wagon back in '72 with a 343hp motor, and it flew. .....Of course I got all the good hand me down parts from my Uncle when he got the latest trick cam from Lunati ,or a new converter from Turbo-action!.........Good bodies are really scarce in the North East. ......A good friend of mine, Mike Wiley actually made a nice 4 door car into a 2-door post body ! .........One of the Mopar mags did a feature on it a few years back. ...........Unless you saw the photos of it being done , you'd never believe it! ..............Tom

Wish I could locate my old '62 wagon superstocker we ran back in the late 70's. Haven't seen the car since 1979 but would syre love to have it back.

Checking the NHRA Classguide shows that in order to run B/SA, the car would be using one of the 413 max wedge engine. Both the 410 and the 420 horse engines have a natural class of A. The 383-343 engine is a natural E with the Fury 2dr hdtp body.

It's indeed, a 383 with 2-fours on top; a solid lifter motor with .445/.445 lift at the valve, and a de-factored NHRA "Stock" HP rating of 320; just 6 more than a '71 Duster 340, which has a single 4bbl, hydraulic lifter, motor.

Somebody (Messr.'s Bennett and Widuch) did their homework!!! :) LOL!

I think this may be the motor -type that was in a notorious MoPar station wagon back in the '70s or '80s, called "THE BEHEMOTH." Could be wrong about that...

I also seem to remember that it was never an assembly-line option; just an NHRA-legal "dealer-installed-option" from years and years, ago...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this could have been the original "paper car" engine.

The Bennett/Widuch car runs D/SA.

No way to get a '62 Plymouth 2-door sedan into D with any of the available 413's.

It's a 383, with inline 4bbls.

It was originally a POLICE CAR engine option in 62.

I remember when I was in High School the police Dept in the area (Seat Pleasant, Md.) had 2 of them. A 4 door and a 2 door sedan Plymouth Savoy. We thought they were the uglist cars we ever saw.....lol. Both were black all over and the slant six cylinder 4 door cars were black and white. Several of the guys I ran with were friends with some of the guys on the force and we got to look under the hoods of the two 383 cars. Man those 2 X 4 barrels looked so cool to guys who had just gotten their liscense only a few months before and were driving cars you wouldnt want to be caught dead in today.....lol. The 6 cyls were the town cars and the 2 383 cars were the hi way cars.
A guy name Al Procopio who lived near my school had the first 1962 413 Xram car I ever saw but it was a track only SS/SA car. His company built Cecil County drag strip, Capitol raceway, and Aquasco speed way. They made quite an impression on young minds back then.
