Re: All the talk about rules.....

Last year at two races I had the same (well known racer) pit next to me in his gazillion dollar toter / stacker and on both occasions his diesel genset blew directly at my trailer door (constantly) for three days straight

I finally approached him and asked if he had a stack for it and he said he did, but it was a pain to install.....

Just because you have a half a million dollar rig doesn't necessarily mean you have class ;)

Never again ;)

I too have experienced this issue.

If they can afford the $250-500K rig at least go to Home Depot and build one for $18 bucks like I did.

Not quite as bad as one guy saving 30 spots at Norwark though!!!!!! don't get me started..........

At Norwalk National, I had to move. An Alarm Stocker started his non vented 2 dollar generator, and left for the hotel! Security would not let me turn it off or shut it off themselves. No vent, wide open, noise maker, but hey, they were at the hotel, no problem.
I have to be honest, this year I wont ask, I'll shut it off.

Ill have to change my muffler to run one....

Admittedly I leave my 1000W Honda on till midnight. If anyone is pitted next to me I ask if they are bothered by the noise and I move it and shield it from them.Just common courtesy.

I am the "trailer trash" of the crew I hang with, but I got the stack from camping world and it's not perfect but it gets the job done.
Question... what do you do about the guy with the gosh darn loud a** gen that is blowin right in your pit only to run a electric cooler with soda (no beer) in it?

Re: All the talk about rules.....

I bought one of the really quiet Honda EU gens (to replace a real noise-maker) just because I didn't want to be a dick to my neighbors. Everyone says things like "is it on"? It's so quiet, it's great.

But I want to add a stack. It's on a pullout drawer, so I could fit some kind of stack, but... How do I do that for a machine that is so self-contained? Where does the intake of the stack go?

Re: All the talk about rules.....

I also use a 3000 honda and built a stack for it using a 3" piece of plastic pipe and a heating duct outlet flange. I hang the flange on the handle just below the exhaust outlet to collect the exhaust and it funnels into a 90 degree L then into the 3" plastic running up to the top of the trailer with a hang on bracket to keep it there. It works pretty well and has not affected the operation of the generator. The plastic pipe gets a little hot on hot days but has not discolored at all and held up for two years now. It seems to meet the rules for a stack and seems to keep everyone happy who I have parked next to so far. I always ask how it is working for the neighbor and have yet to have any complaints. Maybe they are just being nice but the exhaust is the only way they seem to know it is running it is so quiet.
Hope that helps.
