The racer had no pulse and was not breathing, when they loaded him into the Rescue Unit he had a pulse. Enroute to Shands Hospital after cardioversion (shock) in the unit he became wake and alert! The statistics on this happening is normally very low, about 2%. Truly a miracle! Jim

This speaks volumes about the EMT crew. My dad was in the area's best cardiac hospital and STILL couldn't revive him. Time is extremely critical with this sort of thing. And with G-ville track off the beaten path to the nearest hospital, like Jim said, this is nothing short of a true miracle.

This is the outcome that we strive for in emergencys. Like it has been said in this thread, and in my thread "how safe are you at night in the pits" it is absolutely critical that life saving actions/measures be taken immediately. More than likely this was a "witnessed event" where someone saw the patient go down. They provided the "early intervention" buy acting (performing life saving measures ie CPR) and alerting (911, track officials and/or track EMS). All of the individuals involved should be commended for they are part of the "favorable outcome" of this patient. Be sure to congratulate and thank these folks for their service for they are WINNERS !

We were pitted next to Bart and have raced with him since he was a kid. Please post any info on any updates.
Thank you Jim and every one who helped before the medical personnel arrived and to everyone who prayed for him while we awaited word on his condition.

I just got back from Shands where I talked with Bart for a few minutes. He is in very good spirits. He doesn't remember a thing fron the incident. He does know something happened as he has a couple of "Medical Taser" marks on his chest. Other than that he feels fine.
He had just won first round and was going up to watch some qualifying when he fell out.
Will post more updates if I hear any.
