I had some nice chats with Jerry at the races and I will miss him. He had a neat car that always launched hard and ran well. Condolences to the family.

Re: Sad news

Just a couple of memories about Jerry--I am proud to say that we raced with him at his last race. That was last year at the Houston National event. When he found out about this last bout with cancer, he had to go to Houston to MD Anderson Hospital for treatment the same week as the national event. He was still feeling pretty good at that time, so Larry talked him into going to Belle Rose first and then on to Houston. I remember seeing Jerry buy front tires for his race car and I remember crying because that meant he was hopeful that things were going to go well for him. (Those of you who race Stock know that you don't have to buy front tires very often.) He raced there at Belle Rose, then went on to Houston on Sunday and was the first trailer in line at the track. He dropped his trailer and then had his treatments on Monday and Tuesday. We got there on Tuesday evening and there was his trailer 1st in line. He was out at the track early on Wed. and pulled in and saved us a really great spot. He went on to win Class at that race and got to the 4th round in eliminations. We left the track together to drive back home to Kentucky. We called him and told him we were stopping to eat supper that night and he said he was going to keep on driving, but for us to go on and stop because "He didn't need a babysitter!" So he drove on home just fine by himself. We really missed having him at the races the rest of the year. And we will forever miss him now, but we know he is up there in a better place now.

I still don't know the details for the funeral, but I should soon, so I will post them when I hear.

I met Jerry when we first started running the six-pac 440. He helped us early on to sort the thing out and we became great friends. He built 3 buildings for me in Louisiana which were far superior to what I was getting locally. He was building our dyno building in l998 on Mardi Gras day. I told Jerry that we don't work on Mardi Gras. I don't think he ever quite understood that. Last year at Houston he had some cajun food with us. He bought several vehicles from us over the years. We spoke often, and always visited when were at the races. He was a great guy and I will miss him very much.

Jerry, You will be missed. I remember our race at the 94 houston nat in first round of class and it will go down as my best race ever. both .054 on the tree and a 10.548 to 10.556. Then at indy later that year we had each other in finals of class and i didn't know my left from rights and took the wrong lane on you after you won the coin toss. i'm still sorry about that. Jerry i know you are in a better place now and thank you for all the memories that i get to share with my family and friends.

Godspeed.
