Well every other racer out there has the respect to give someone time to get ready. Especially when asked to wait for a moment. But guess that means other people. Congrats.

Re: Brian Chaney wins SS @ Tulsa LODRS!

Ladies and Gentlemen,
One question, was this a single run before or after other paired cars?

Any single runs cause of "no shows" cars go down the track last, after the paired cars. I've been in this situation before and I waited until a track official "made" me run without my opponent. This is basic sportsmanship. The only exception I can think of is when the opposing car breaks in the lanes and is CONFIRMED by a team member of the broken car. I can"t think of any other scenario, can anyone?

Any thing else dosent pass the smell test!

Congrats Bryan.....you drove your *** off, I guess the extra time trial :rolleyes:didn't hurt.....
As for the " incident"....was there... seemed odd yet not out of the question, maybe a beef was or is with the Track Official telling the racer in question to run , however, as I was standing near Bryan's car, he didn't appear to be in any rush, in fact waited for Womack's water leak to be cleaned up ( not in his lane), other cars moved around the SS/AM car, then after being told Bryan moved forward towards the burnout box, the offended party then rolled around corner and was too late.. this was not a timed event but was not in the seconds kind of thingy, more like minutes....
Also heard rumblings of setting tire pressure seems a bit odd that your pressure in your car would not be " close" to your normal sttings, unless 30 psi is normal, I don't run ss/am but am familiar with A/SMA in comp, that seems a little high to me, quite possible this was a bit of a delay, not sure but I believe some one from a SS/DM car also painted red...attempted to lower said pressure!!!
I'm sure both wished it would have been a race, however we just won't know,
give Bryan credit quite possibly someone else wouldn' t have waited that long....I'm just saying have no dog in the fight however it made for some excitement in a miserable racing environment, maybe the heat also played a part in everyone's patience!!!!

I can only say I heard the announcer say
Bryan was going to make a single
because his opponent was broken. There
was quite a pause, which we were wondering
about, before he ran. I was in the 2nd pair down
and was already back before it happened. Only
heard the two sides of it. They were trying to
hurry everybody up due to the weather.

Well, it seems there's a lack of understanding here. Was the single run ahead of paired cars are not? Any other rhetoric is besides the point of sportsman like conduct.

If I was racing someone, i would pull out of line to give him a chance as most racers with dignity. (which I have done and people have done for me!) I wasnt there, did that happen?

Anyone?

Also,
No one has worse weather than us in div 3. Still those racers with integrity still find a way to race fairly. Weather hurryup is an excuse not a reason!

Most racers, when told their opponent broke by an official,
and to make a single pass, would take them at their word. Not many would unhook everything, crawl out of their car,
walk back into the staging lanes, and ask the other driver if the official is lying before getting back in the car and making the pass. I hate that John got so upset with Bryan. Maybe the guy that radioed the tower that John broke & could not run was the problem? Someone who was not there slandering another's integrity is out of line.

Maybe the lack of understanding is with the person that was in another state at the time, and likely only heard one side of the story? Does anyone that was actually involved owe you coming on here and explaining their side? I doubt it.

Re: Brian Chaney wins SS @ Tulsa LODRS!

This is an email I recieved this morning from a guy working the lanes:

Ed,

I was talking to the tower and Doug (Operations Manager) when this incident occurred.

The guy in the red car (John) came running up to me after I pulled three or four sets of cars to the lanes.

Chaney was the forth or fifth set in line that was going to race John. He said that he is not ready and still had to get buckled up. I told him to get in his car and get buckled up and get up here. After the water incident in the third or forth pair I thought he would have plenty of time to get up to the lane. He still did not move at all. Once the water incident was cleaned up the tower and Doug was wondering what the delay is. I explained to them that John was still in the lanes getting buckled up. The cleanup took about 5 minutes to get cleaned up. Chaney was setting at the gate at least 4 minutes prior before the water incident. The tower then declared since the car did not get into line to run against Chaney it was determined by the tower that he was broke. Chaney did not want to go forward without John but was told to pull forward to take a single run. Chaney was told by the tower that John was broke, that’s the only way to get him to go forward. Cars then started to pull around John. Chaney took the single and other cars started to pull up then John showed up expecting to run. He was told that the run has already occurred. He was ticked off.

It took him close to 15 minutes to pull forward to the starting line from the time he told me that he was not buckled up. My TAD and TAF cars do not take that long to get buckled up. Most TD dragsters can get buckled up in 3-4 minutes.

All he had to do was to start the car and pull up to the gate, chances are he would have run against Chaney (Assuming that he would not take long). Since he stayed back in the lane and delayed the event they had no choice but to disqualify his run. When you have Craig Hutchinson and Doug Wright wondering why no cars are going down the track they will rectify the issue quickly.

I just wanted to share you what really happened. Strange thing is that when he came up running to me I did not see him running from his car to me. Not sure where he was?

Don’t want to talk about what his wife did when she came up to me and Doug, that was intense. She was pizzed.

The "water incident" mentioned was rain water falling from under another car in line ahead of them. We had sideways rain for a while, and some cars were dripping. I hate John had problems getting ready in time. I really like him. However, Bryan says he didn't try to avoid racing him. I don't think Bryan sweats racing many of us.
