Mike's the one who gave me the infamous Duck umbrella. Gonna miss you, buddy. I'm mad at you! For all the trash talking we did over the years, we never got to race. 'Course you would've kicked my butt, just like Monty Joe's.

It was through a private message on this site that Mike contacted me. We had talked at the races, but after he got my email address, he became my "Coach" and close friend. I would be in the staging lanes ready for eliminations, and know that Coach Mike is going to be watching the drag race results. He was a great encourager and motivator. I will miss him.

Mike was one of my biggest fans...he had special pair of diamond earrings, I have one on the window net in my car and he kept the other in his pocket on days that I was racing. Even when he was not at the track he would e-mail me and let me know he was pulling for me and that he would keep the earring in his pocket all day on race day. He was a great friend and will truly be missed.

I believe I first met Mike at Mooresville about 2003. We became very good friends and dinner buddies at the races. He was a big guy with a big heart to match. When I hurt my back last year and couldn't work on the car he offered to come down here and help me. And, he was hurting as much, if not more than I was. If he wasn't at the races , he would call after qualifying was posted and as the rounds progressed(or not). Then he would call to make sure I got home OK. I'm really going to miss him. Godspeed my friend.

When I was in a slump he would call and say "BIG JOHNSON GET YOUR HEAD OUT YOUR *****"

Only met Mike once at Byron Dragway about 2005 very friendly individual ! My thoughts and prayers to his family !

I only had the pleasure of speaking to Mike on the phone. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
