I might be mistaken, but I think the Dart Little M is heavier than the bowtie when comparing apples to apples.

dont know about the weight they are both heavy, but the quality of current bowtie
blocks is outstanding, cnc machined, completely deburred and very accurate from
the get go. The shp block from dart is a good block also, not quite the same as a little
m but way lighter and cheaper and still a good piece, not on the list but i spoke to a guy
at dart and he said the had talked to nhra about approval? anyone hear about this?

so are they legal for SS now? i can get a 4" bore unit reasonably priced and would like some "classracer" opinions on going in that direction please...

I'd use whichever block can be decked the most.

The Little-M and the 2503 Bowtie block are both appox. the same weight we have worked on them both. We have probed both out for locations such as cylinder locations, deck heights, cam tunnel placement, lifter bore placement and both seem to be very peices.

The Dart SHP blocks are about 600.00 cheaper then the Little-M Sportsman and about 8 or 900 cheaper then the 2503 Bowtie block.

The Dart SHP blocks weighs around 180 pounds on their 4.000 bore block.

We have machined about 125 plus of those blocks since they came out and so for none have had any issues to date. Sure beats sealing with the old 400 OEM blocks!!!

The most we have decked of the 2503 Bowtie block was .250 it was far a sprint car build and the upper water pump bolts holes the threads were right there.
