If your CO2 detector is going off all the time. It needs to be replaced, they sample air non stop. Once they collect so much polution they can no loinger make the distinction. Spraying fabreeze and the like, shortens the life of a CO2 detector substantialy. So in all likelyhood, you just needed to replace it, I would not just delete it. You can get a new one on ebay or other auction sites for a fair price. What is your familys lives worth?

I read that. I think that is total BS! Portables put out just as much CO as anything. Sometimes they are the worst if they are the old B&S type. Some people are courteous about where they put them and some are not.

I agree placement is important but I think it would be difficult to put an exhaust extension on some of them as well as looking pretty stupid with a 10 foot pipe sticking up in the air and not attached to anything

My CO detector also kept going off. Sent it in and got a free replacement.......new one does the same thing......I removed it....No generator was running when the thing was going off and it was going off at night after I was trying to sleep.....I think the brand was CCI...

We don't sleep at the track, so the CO detector wasn't vital to us. But I can understand why others need it.

Amen Brother. I will pass a good pit space close to folks I know if I see one of those B&S things chugging along. I have one of the quiet portables with extra length shore line so I can strategically place it for fumes to go away from others. If others aren't as considerate simply pack up your stuff and move if possible, CO poisoning is nasty stuff.

Same story here, our CO detector in the toter was going off all the time and was told to replace it as Jeff said these do go bad.
I did find out that these detectors are date coded so be sure you are getting a fairly NEW
built one !!!

Most CO detectors sound off in codes that can be found in the directions. Keep in mind that any fuel fired appliances produce CO, stoves, refrigerators, heaters etc. The activation source may be coming from within your unit and the only way to be sure is to have someone take readings. If that is not available, the only safe thing to do is completely ventilate the unit and shut off all appliances until they can be tested.
