Re: Midwest supercomp series 2011 schedule
Jeff,
Yes, Leak is not my favorite person but that is besides the point. The whole point to a traveling series (like MWSCA) is to travel to different tracks as they always have. If I wanted to race at the same track every weekend I would bracket race. It is fine to have a couple of races at the same track, heck even NHRA does that with division races sometimes. But when over 3/4 of the races are at the same track that is a bit much. All I am saying is that there are already enough races at one track (Byron). Regardless of what track that is, they don't need to have one more there. It is a shame they cant have a 2 day event at Cordova, but I don't see why they should change that and have one more race at Byron. I know first hand how hard it is to schedule a series like this and I don't want it to seem like I am talking bad about the people in charge. I am sure they had their hands full trying to make everyone happy. I had a great time running a couple of races last year and this is a first class group of guys! However, having said that I don't think I will be running with them as much as I had planned to with this schedule. It is unfortunate, because I was really looking forward to running most or all of the races this year. I don't plan to run that many times at Byron, I seriously doubt I will drive all the way to Indy to race 1/8th mile, and I also doubt I will go to the Grove. |

1/8 at Indy ?............That seen odd, and I can't remember ever t stopping the 1/8....

Re: Midwest supercomp series 2011 schedule
Rick, I agree. It doesn't make much sense to run 1/8th mile there. However, they are being told by the track that is what they can run. I think I would skip it if it were me.

Re: Midwest supercomp series 2011 schedule
What do most guys do with stop settings on the 1/8 ??
I think in my deal, I'd have to re-invent the wheel....... Rick |
Re: Midwest supercomp series 2011 schedule
Yea, It has been a long time since I have run 1/8th mile but I think you are right. It is completely different. You would have to throw your data out the window. When I set up for 8.90 I am nowhere near 5.70 at the 18th.

Re: Midwest supercomp series 2011 schedule
Darn it Ryan,...........I'm just getting Hayden accumulated to 1/4 mile racing........he's only seen 1/8 in the past 10yrs.......except for his past 2 races (in sc).

Re: Midwest supercomp series 2011 schedule
I am not really that worried about it because I seriously doubt I will be driving all the way to Indy to race 1/8th mile and I don't think I will be going to the Grove either. It's really too bad that the tracks aren't more willing to work with these guys! This years schedule is really dissapointing and I know a couple of guys (myself included) that were planning to run most or all of the races that will not be doing that now because of it. With the economy the way it is and NHRA being the way they are, I think racers would really like to do something more like these local series races. The "2 races for one tow" idea is great when fuel is as high as it is. Plus you don't have to miss work to run these events.

Ryan & Rick
After talking to the IRP Manager this weekend at the performance expo, there is a strong posibillity that we will be racing the quarter mile not the 1/8th. We will know more after the March meeting. :) |
