In the past you wanted to wrinkle the side wall in a bias tire and not wrinkle the side wall in a radial. I run 18 to 24#'s in my radials. Anything lower and they stop working. I would think the bias would be 18# and lower until it hooks right.

Not to hijack this thread but should a radial slick ever wrinkle much on the launch?

I run Toyo's on may J/SA Cutlass. They say the Toyo's are made for a stick car, but as cheap as they are I tried a set. I run 1.55 to 1.58 sixty foot times. They are also very consistent. I run 15psi on a 8" rim.

Using stick tire I think could work your brother could be right auto may not hit them hard enough to plant the tire, but are'nt the radial sidewalls about as stiff as stiff sidewall stick tire?

I never say this can't be done or that can't be done, cause I've seen alot things that work now that was never thought possible, years ago.
What happened to you that your brother turned out right and you have automatic, where did your parents go wrong that you turned out that way? LOL

There are plenty of stick cars in Comp and SS running radials. You really need the proper clutch setup to pull it off. The complaint I've heard repeatedly is, there's no recovery time in the radials. In other words, if you spin, you'll keep spinning which leads to aborted runs. It's no secret...your clutch makes or breaks ya! Literally.

Joe
My car will hook any were, mainly due to the the HP it don't have(LOL)
When you can catch them on sell they cost 220.00 a pair to your door.

Joe, what compound have you run? In my division, Donnie Hough's car will hook anywhere even in the left lane at Shreveport. I would look at your suspension setup and the compound that you run. I found that the reason that Donnie was hooking and I wasn't was because he runs Hoosiers CO6 compound and I was running CO7's. My car was hooking anywhere except the local track often call Spin City. With a good shock(Sanhuffs if you can afford), Caltracs/CompEng bar, Caltrac springs, loose front end, etc. the radials will hook as good as any bias tire. Hope this helps.

Alan don't most run 26-28 LBS in radials 15 would explain that much wrinkle.
Mike V,

Anyone using M/T L8 compound? Have used it on a couple different sizes with good results, 32x14 and 28x9

Going with another set now
