I would call the track on the gate time, 3 years ago I arrived at night at this event , and they had closed the gate 1-2 hours early. I was not happy.

Good morning - today starts the zillionth edition of the race here at Cecil County Dragway and we're not off to a great start .Fog - in every direction - its starting to burn off but it will be a few hours till that happens .
Anyway after being here just one day I'm already bored as I have zero TV reception ( no Digital service and my Satalite is still "on the fritz" ) plus the Internet is so slow .......its gonna be a long weekend . You want good news - not much to tell ( go ahead - shoot the messenger ) except that yesterday while doing some normal service before the test n tune my friend and expert chassis guy Tommy Goldman found some broken welds in my rear suspension that would have given me a very wild ride had I gone down the track so we took it apart and started looking for someone with a welder - then the lightbulb lit - find Johnny D ( John DiBartolomeo - Editor of Drag Racing Action magazine - S/Comp racer - and a super welder) with his new Lincoln welder setup and after Tommy and I took it apart Johnny had it welded up in no time flat .So much for dodging a bullet ........Did you ever notice how I can't seem to get thru a race weekend without some drama ? You want weather ? How about 70 degrees with a whopping 81% humidity along with a 29.56 barometer comes out to around 2000' DA but that will all change as things burn out .Later ........... |

Jack, I love your coverage you pass on anywhere you go, but don't bitch, I'm at work on a computer. Now this is boring! You know the old phrase, "a bad day at the races is far better then a good day at work". Just think how lucky you are to have the time and means to do what you like to do. Good luck at the races.

The fog has cleared and the sun is out, but we are not racing. Not sure what the issues are. Hopefully we will be racing soon. Its another hot day.

Someone please call Ed Fernandez - Why you ask ? Just tell him the Sun is out - the beer is getting cold - Billy is here and most important his "spot" is being cleaned and cleared as I type .
Other than that its never a good thing in August when the temperature and the humidity are the same number . We're getting weepers on the track but one lane is already good so maybe in another hour or so we'll get going ............. PS -"Uncle Buck" is in the house ........... |
Re: Live from Rising Sun , MD - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
