Re: Dick Harrells 69 ZL1
not getting at anything, just stating my opinion based on what I've seen and read over many years, that many of these cars are a shadow of the original campained car and I don't see investors that buy them as doing a service rather I see them driving up the cost of these cars making them a commodity. That said, and originality aside I'd also be very surprised if that car could run anywhere near it former record holding performance of 9.63 seconds at 143 mph as it is today.

good analogy but like them, just old and a shadow of their former selves who's performance back in day while impressive, pales in comparison to what's being done today.

Re: Dick Harrells 69 ZL1
Billy is correct! Us old farts appreciate the fact that these cars are being "restored" cause we remember when they ran.
You had to live the days of the "Muscle Car" era to really appreciate what it was. The new cars are impressive, but how many 20-30 year olds can buy them? How many of us old farts can afford to buy them? The 20-30 year olds are buying the "feriners" stuff. The 20-30 years old could afford the "Muscle Cars" of the era and bought them by the truckload! I am glad that I grew up in the era and was fortunate enough to buy 3 of 'em new off the show room floor! Keep findin' 'em and keep restorin' 'em! Please! #5457 Curt Rees |

1320, then you understand. It was a very good time in the automotive industry and a very good time to be young an automotive enthuisiast!
It would sure be fun to race again in front of the crowds that were at the race tracks then. We won't see that again. Sad! #5457 Curt Rees |
Re: Dick Harrells 69 ZL1
I do, and it was but nothing stays the same and that time as well as the "old farts" time has pasted.

Re: Dick Harrells 69 ZL1
Ed if you have nothing positive to add stay off this thread. Some of us truely enjoy the history that these cars represent. Go back to yb.

Re: Dick Harrells 69 ZL1
1320 stated his opinion, and that is fine. I just wonder how many posts would be made if people had to state their real name? Maybe 20% of the ones now?
