A 12 bolt walks into a bar....

Re: 12 bolt yoke
I have a Mark Williams 1350 on my car, had to cut off the flange of the seal to get my race pack collar to clear. It's close but no interference.

Re: 12 bolt yoke
It sounds like I want to find the thinnest collar I can. Mine is 3/16 thick. I'd hate to machine the OEM yoke and make it weaker in the process. Plus that would mean taking it off the rear, which I'm trying to avoid. Thanks for the input guys.

Re: 12 bolt yoke
I searched for a Yoke with the most clearance. Made Sure I had room to slip the D Shaft that much further into the trans. Then took both to a machine shop had the Race Pak Collar Machined with interference to fit the yoke. Fabricated the sensor holder. Went together fine. Getting sensor to collar clearance was critical on mine to get accurate readings. Once I got that right has worked great for years. The yoke I used I found on the internet it was not a strange or MW sorry cant remember name but TD comes to mine. I also used a internal Pinion seal meaning no exterior flange I ended up with about .060 clearance.
Hope this helps Don |
Re: 12 bolt yoke
any reason you cant use a sensor collar on the slip yoke by the trans--- that would bypass the whole space problem at the rear pinion yoke wouldn't it???

Re: 12 bolt yoke
this is a RPM pick up correct??? If so most Liberty transmissions pick up the RPM from the input shaft in the trans underneath the bearing retainer ----so I do not see where this should be a problem for you--all you are measuring is rear wheel speed AFTER the trans ---the difference between the rear speed and engine rpm will give you your trans slippage as well as tire slippage---look into it --FED387

I had a Denny's Driveshaft billet yoke on my 12 bolt. It had an undercut area between the seal and universal joint. I machined the magnetic collar inside diameter with a chamfer/radius on each side so it could sit on that undercut/radius area. Worked perfect. Plenty of room between the U-bolt nuts and the pinion seal. Used an Autometer 4 magnet ring. Don't remember if this was the exact one, but close. http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p40_...rdw.html#photo |
Re: 12 bolt yoke
We put ours on the tranny slip yoke , works fine. ---Trevor

Re: 12 bolt yoke
When I had asked computech about the output shaft sensor location they said it could be done but wasnt reccommended as the slip joint does just that, slipping in and out. the movement may be minimal but could cause some issues with the sensors picking up the signal. fwiw.
