Jim Waldo

I'm going with this guy. He was good long before all the fancy clutches and transmissions we now have. Told me he just bought another stick car.

I think winning back to back world championships with a big block stick car in an era of stock eliminator that rewards consistency more than all out performance says an awful lot about a car and driver.

I still say Kevin Helms

In the time period listed I'd say SE Buchanan. Lots of BIG Wallys in the shop at Kuntz & Co.

After that time period Jim Waldo and Kevin Helms are bad to the bone.

Helms is surely a top 5 player. Can't forget my hero "Jimmy Bridges".

I would hate to have to pick - and you would have to define what is meant by the "most successful" - most wins - most championships - most consistent - most friends (LOL)

I think there is room on the podium for more than one - many mentioned here

I always admired Jim Waldo and what he has able to do and I think Kevin Helms and Jim Hughes are very very good as well

All of the ones mentioned, I would say Jim Hughes from Colorado can be added to the list . gsa612

For the time period I'd go with Jimmy Bridges. Overall, Kevin Helms. Actually Chad, I think Kevin was back to back to back 2001-2003 World Champ.
Pretty impressive.

I think you're right, but I didn't want to stick my foot in my mouth
