Re: Cam Chowen at Woodburn
Around our house he is know as "Cam the Champion". First qualifier on friday he sets the record, second run backs it up then tears down. That is a great weekend by most accounts. Sat enters the "Gamblers" race and goes to the final round. Sunday gets up and cuts great lights all day and is perfect in the final round to win it all. Then you get to take into account that his family was there to share it with him.. I am not sure if it can get any better than that...We were all thrilled for him and his family on such a story book weekend. Cam and his family have worked very hard on the car and deserve every bit of it. Congratulations from the Hansens.:)

Re: Cam Chowen at Woodburn
I can’t tell you how thankful we were for last weekend. at Woodburn. It was my wife Janie’s idea to go to the race and close out our season. After the year we had in 2011 she thought it would be be fun to go out and try to set the C/S record and just have some fun as a family.
In the staging lanes for round 1 Sunday I was thinking how my lights have been all over the map this year mostly bad so I threw caution to the wind and changed my launch sequence. Granted making a change to routine Sunday morning wouldn’t normally be a good idea but after setting the record it was going to be a good weekend no matter what. Surprisingly, my lights started to improve right away. I slipped back into old habits twice during eliminations, but the car was running close to the dial in those two rounds and kept us in. After the final Mick shook my hand at the scale and said I was .000 in the final. I hope I didn’t look as stunned as I felt. Earlier I mentioned the year we had in 2011. In January that year Janie and I were on vacation in Barbados when I fell and hit my head on the concrete floor in the hotel. The doctors told her they weren’t sure if I was going to live as my brain was bleeding badly from the impact. Janie quickly got us moved to Miami where they continued to be less than optimistic about my chances to return to “normal” life. Back home our daughter put the news of my condition on Facebook asking people started to pray for us. Over the next couple weeks the prognosis steadily improved from critical allowing us to head home after three weeks. We were never happier to see Prince George but but the change in climate from Miami to winter in the north almost did me in! In closing, I must say thanks to the many people who have taken the time to help us by sharing their experience and encouragement. By far and away the best part about drag racing is the people who are involved. A heart felt thanks to you all. |

A little media exposure...always good to see. A good read, and a little reminder about what goes on behind the scenes! |
