Re: Theoretical Dime Rocket question
Forgot all about the 301 Firebird. The motor may be hard to track down, but those bodies are all over the place up here for $500 or less.

Re: Theoretical Dime Rocket question
I've been playing with a 200 in a Fairmont with Billy's guidance, but if it doesn't pan out of get the HP fixed I'll be looking to start over. That Monza is a great idea for sure, alot of Buick V6 support out there. I'd think I'd want to stay away from small carbs or turbos for consistency sake, right?

Re: Theoretical Dime Rocket question
I don't know about consistancy being an issue with turbo 301's. Ask Rick Unterseh in D7 (member here) for his tally this season and last. Or Neil Smedly who won class, #1 qualifier and the event with his 301 turbo at a national event. Actually, if you think about it, a turbo car in altitude should be more consistent as the engine is not "struggling" to breath air from one pass to another.
And finding 301 turbo engines? Piece of cake. Most people couldn't throw them far enough! |
Re: Theoretical Dime Rocket question
Ok Jeff, I see what you're saying. Looks like a viable option, and from what I am reading the motor was severly detuned at the factory for the crappy gas and lack of knowledge of how to treat turbos at the time.
That said, who is a go-to 301 guy, should I choose to ultimately go that route? |
