He was at the Brainerd nat.event a/s 10.53 e.t 4.11 under, remember he put the car on the bumper a few years back with the automatic in it ,Nice 69 Chevelle

Cool pic! I wonder what his setup was? It looks like stock front upper&lowers--rear LCA seem to be the same. I am sure there are lots of tricks in it!

I believe it has the Alf Weibe suspension.

I'm curious to know how a pair of bolt-in ladder bars and a wishbone was made legal by the NHRA?

Sure it's bolt-on, but far from stock suspension in terms of looks and more importantly function.

Rulebook says "bolt on" is legal.
In my opinion, looks and function are subjective and have no place in the conversation.

No different to a leaf spring car having the Calvert system or a traction bar bolted on.
By the way, there is no wishbone.

Coming from my purist vantage point function is the most vital reason IMO.

Just my .02.

I can show pics where one of the earlier versions had a bolt-in wishbone where the upper arms were.

Actually, Alf's first design was declared illegal a few years back, and he modified it.

That was the wishbone setup. By the way, I will make someone a heck of a deal on a wishbone and brackets that never went down the track!
