plan on being in the grass. the reason they paved up there was for the pros. and that still might not be enough. the word is spectators will be parking in a nearby dirt rack and then bused in. good luck.

There's grass, and lots of it. Pic from 2006.

Manny, the facility upgrades this year are mostly pavement and safety, all pro catagory related. The transformation of this facility into a stadium type facility will take some time. I admire the management for taking it a step at a time rather than borrowing a zillion bucks to do it all at once. The facility ownershipwise is like no other, it was started in the 60's when the new england hot rod council was running the strip in sanford,me and i believe the town wanted to use sanford as an airport only. There were investors and i believe all were racing people. There are alot of details that i don't know, but the ownership shares cannot be sold, only passed to relatives or they can go back to the organization. Shareholders do not make money off the track, the money goes back into the facility. The purpose of this facility has always been and still is to provide a place for people to race.

I don't expect to have a great grassy or paved pit spot, but i understand the importance of this event and facility and am looking forward to racing this weekend

Go to google earth and type in New England Dragway. The picture is about a year old. The wooded area just beyond the "upper" pits was cleared out last year. I have not been there this year so I don't know if that area was paved or not. During the Div. last year most of Stock and SS were pitted in the area to the right of the entrance road. All the area from the staging lanes to the end of the 1/4 are paved. The early bird spectators will start parking on the left side of the track in the dirt behind the hill and once the parking is full they are using the parking area down the road at Star Speedway just down the road. I only have Sunday off so I will be there to see the big boys run and the last to rounds of the real racers(S/SS). I hope there are some ASRA guys still there.
