68-7000 when we used to race it..why??

Re: BBM/Hemi stocker oil pan
Well because a Hemi needs to be spun over 8000rpm and I doubt a 5 quart pan has enough capacity. Also the 62-65 K member is different than the later model units which brings us back to the fact that Toms K member is going to have to be notched so the oil pan will fit therefore he should just get the larger capacity unit and done with it. This is assuming his car has the early K member still installed. It cost at least 20k to build one of these engines and I sure would not recommend he use a stock type 4-5 quart pan.
Tom, Please let us know what you end up using. |
Re: BBM/Hemi stocker oil pan
If it's a stock eliminator car,you can't run more capacity,and that's where I was going with this.

Re: BBM/Hemi stocker oil pan
There's a whole lotta Stockers that can go 8,000+/- RPM and they are supposedly using the factory pans per the rule book. And I don't see in the rule book that you can notch the k-frame because why would you need to if you were running the stock pan, per the rules?
And if 5 quarts isn't enough, the rulebook does allow the use of an Accu-Sump. Or maybe 3 quarts in the pan, 1 quart or so in the filter and 3 quarts in the Accu-Sump... |

Re: BBM/Hemi stocker oil pan
Over fill the pan and use an accumulator to bring oil level down. My engine has never seen 8000 rpm, in fact I have a 9000 rpm tach. and the top third of it is never used.
