Re: 4 Door Hardtop Chevelle
I never saw a '64 or '65 4-dr hardtop...They came later...Think Chevrolet used
to call them "Sports Sedans"... There was a 4-dr Chevelle years ago in Div-1 that did quite well in Stock...think the guys name was Rann?...not sure of year, or if post or not.... |

Re: 4 Door Hardtop Chevelle
Yeah, but my '65 Chevelle 283 4-door (page 153 in Doug Boyce's JUNIOR STOCK book) was raced before any of those. Dad bought it new. It's currently in storage waiting to be re-born into SS.
No, there weren't any '64/'65 4-door hardtops. Jerry |
Re: 4 Door Hardtop Chevelle
I'm not sure there's been many 4 dr. Hardtops of ANY make that were run....
BUT I think I remember a '71 or '72 Skylark 4-dr hdtop I saw at Indy some years back in Stock.... Either a K or L/SA....yellow car I think...Div 3....might have been Indiana or Illinois car.... |

think they ran it after the wagon.... And although I never saw Method race...I forgot about that car as well...I DID see the guy who bought it...was it "Chip" (or "Clip") Koch? from Ohio run the Summer- nationals one year and take the Q/SA trophy..... My bad on Marty Bernard...saw the 4-dr Caprice hdtop run many times...mostly as a Q/stick...if you're saying Mr. Volpe owned the car and sent it East....I believe there was a pair of brothers from Texas who owned the car and held the Q/S record for several years before selling to Marty...although the name escapes me... Seen Tom's Corvair on the site here many times...another one forgot! Think I remember another 4-dr hardtop....Any Buckeye State veterans on here remember the Antorietto Bros. from central Ohio? Think they ran a 255hp SS/PA '69 Impala (or Caprice) back in the mid '70's... Believe it was a 4dr hdtop....anybody remember the car? |
Re: 4 Door Hardtop Chevelle
I believe you are thinking of Jackie Hibbard in Texas.
I remember the Antoretto car of course. I remember Tom Gould switching bodies to set records in the early 70's .I' m sure there was a convertible..I may have dreamed the 4 dr ht.. Maybe not ! |
