SS,
There are racers that have the "latest and greatest" of today's cam technology and still find there is room for improvement.
I'd bet money that a 25 year old SS cam is down 40 HP or more from a top of the line cam made to order today.
On a budget conscious SS car, save the expense of a fat tire / 4-link and spend the money on valve train & clutch or convertor. And whatever it takes for ring seal.
